Xerograph and Oxide Topologies

M Sterling said:
Matt has covered a lot of bases on these two, but I wanted to share something a little different. I also made a clip of the improved V2 downsweep mode on the Xerograph. Settings are in the song description:

This one gets a little weird, that's what happens when you don't plan ahead of time!

This is the downsweep on the Xero with a gated Oxide. It gets a little wanky, but I wanted to show how it responds to lots of different playing styles:

Hope you guys enjoy this monstrous combination!!!

Awesome clips man! awesome playing too!

These clips makes me more excited about the Xero. I already got the Oxide and I can say that it's the fuzz that I've been searching for since I started venturing into effects world. I paired it with Proton and BOD for now. My Xero is coming in 2 weeks. Thanks for all the great clips and settings guys! Will try them when I get my dynamic duo!

Thanks a lot!!! I enjoyed making the clips, for sure. I'm sure the Oxide does some beautiful things with the Proton too, though. Having a Xero and a Proton on the same board is gonna be absolute madness!!!

Just learned about the Xerograph today..
After wanting a MF101 for years, I picked one up on the classifieds here about a week ago.
Been having a blast with it and have been using an EV5 (modded with a jack) to control the cutoff. It works well and with great accuracy..

..then this sexy little chromed out gem comes along.

tuff' luck^^

I'm on mye toes about changing out my mf101 for a xerograph.
Does anybody know if Taylor could do a envelope out? What about multiple expression inputs?

I got a mp201 to go with my moogs. Any word on the compatibility?

WOW your xero is looking sexy in that orange coat behndy!

I want one in purple! yeah... and a Nimbus! And heres to him coming up with something that makes me want to get rid of my moog phaser too! ooh, and maybe something that makes me wanna get a ring mod..

thanks!

far as i know, Taylor is trying to streamline the build process to meet order demands, so i think he's not really doing as much custom stuff as he used to. that's why he went to the basic and deluxe versions of the Xero i think. i also think that he might not have time to do custom colors anymore too.

but it never hurts to ask! he is a great guy and super easy to work with. lol. the problem is he just makes TOO good of stuff. might be a LOT of orders he has to fill.

just got an email from Taylor today. my Xero will ship out on monday! yeah! a week early than the usual build time! i'm really excited about this pedal, i heard and saw many clips and vids of the Xero and Oxide together. finally i will have them both!

thanks Taylor for these awesome pedals!

Marc, those are some awesome clips you made. Great playing and nice showcase of what some of my favorite pedals can do. I especially like the dubstepy clip you made with Moog EP2... nice pedal work. And your other clip made me GAS for your chops.

The MXR BOD>Oxide>Xero>Moog EP2 signal chain is one that will not be leaving my board anytime soon!

yeah...... i'm falling in and out of love with my Aggy Octa all the time. it's a freaking beast, but it's just so unpredictable it's hard to write to it. i kinda need something to do BLAHHHDAOHAOHAOH every time i use it. for fun stuff, unpredictability is pure awesome, but for shows i like to be able to reproduce them sounds. i like my octavers at the end of the chain, so i'm hoping the M9's will be good enough for live stuff.

and DAMN the Aggy stuff are in an awkward shaped box.

Thanks, Matt!!! I 100% agree about that combination being one that will stick around for a long, long time. And that downsweep on the Xero just makes wanna play like Joe Zawinul or something! My custom LFO box should be ready in 3 weeks, or so, and I will surely post some clips when I get the hang of it.

Hmmm...makes a very good wah pedal too, when combined with the Moog EP2. First clip is 2 pole setting P Bass Dlx blended to the bridge pup.

Settings: for both of these, the knob on the ep2 is set at around 1:00

Slow, 2 pole, and up for the switches.
Res: 1:30
Sens: off
Freq: 1:00ish
No clean blended in on this one

This one is the 4 pole setting. I probably have no business slapping on a P Bass with some 4 month old strings, but I thought it sounded cool and wanted to share.

Slow, 4 pole, and up for the switches
Res: 1:00
Sens: off
Freq: 1:30
25% clean blended in

It gets very dirty, nasty, etc... when these same setting are used with the Oxide.

Uuuuuhhhh oooohhhhh yyyeeeaaahh.

M Sterling, your clips are amazing and your chops are phenomenal. You're giving us an amazing scope of what these pedals can do, and I must say, I am about THIS close to biting the bullet on a Xerograph. Mr. MF101 maybe going bye-bye.

I have a Xero Deluxe ordered - currently using a Freaker wah and a Proton, this could potentially replace both. M Sterling, if you could whet my appetite by playing the Xero wah style into a Big Muff or distortion I would love to hear it!
