Yamaha BB404F for $199 shipped from Musicians Friend during the clearance. Nothing changed on it except straplocks, strings, pickups and everything else are stock, super-sweet instrument!

Wow....all these Yamahas got me goin......no........GASSIN big time. Can my fellow TB ers recommend a low to mid level Yamaha bass with a thinner neck a la Jazz bass or thereabouts?

I had a BB3000S once and it was a really great bass. Very solid super punchy. I hated to sell it but I had to buy a Sting ray!

Look for the BB1500, a BB3000s, BB1200 and the Motion B bass and the newer BB414/614 series, all great basses with great tone, a easy playing neck and not too expensive.

I have played exclusively Yamaha stuff. Had a Yamaha BB300 with BassLines for years until I could beat on it no more. Now I have a BB1500A, I get three distinct sounds from it because of the eq and that's before I screw around with the bass and treble or pickup pan controls. I changed the pcikguard to a tortoise shell and changed the knobs to gold knobs. Beautiful looking and playing bass.

i got the good old RBX 370 workhorse those things can do some damage the active P/J does help too its got balls but i am in the market for another yammy perhaps the 775 or a BB

but after seeing that jazz clone yammy my god that is the most awsome thing ive ever seen whats the model number for that i want one... whats the sound like a BB605 coz there damn good but thats just damn sexy your a ledgend for scoring that steal

Federal, that's a BB1500A. Not mine, but mine looks just like that except with a tortoise shell pick guard and gold knobs. Great bass, do some ebay hunting and you will be very happy.

+1 on the BB1500A, the one I tried had gobs of sustain and seemed really well built. It's a great Jazz substitute. $599 Cdn for a shop-worn example was a little too much I thought at the time. I'll keep looking on Evilbay.

One favourite is the TRB 5II. I almost bought one the day I picked up my Skyline 55-01 but my credit card couldn't afford two basses that day.

Is it just me or has anyone A/B'd the TRB1005 and TRB5II and found the electronics wanting on the newer model?

One day when test driving a Bongo HH, I then plugged in a new TRB1005 and couldn't believe how transistor-radio-sounding the electronics were. A nice guitar the 1005, but I don't think as good as the model it replaced.
