Yamaha Basses?

I was just curious , I there's any love on TB for Yamaha basses? I've never seen any threads in here, about them,I tried a manual search on TB and nada? I used to own one about 12yrs ago, and to be honest can't even recall the model, dont even recall what the heck I did with it,
it was a base end model as I only recall paying around $350 new,I love sunburst finishes and bought it more on the looks instead of researching. But does Yamaha have any higher end models comparable to like say your Fender or Musicman basses or per se $1000 dollar range basses? Just curious, as I was looking at them on EBay.

Yamahas are certainly known for their quality. Try the Yamaha clubs, we practically worship them there :)

Really? You did a search for Yamaha and pulled up nothing? Weird... I wonder if something is wrong with the search feature...

Thanks for all the replies,

lunarpollen- yeah strangely went into the Basses Section Typed in "Yamaha Basses" nada, maybe there is something going on with the search feature, hmmm

My TRB-6 will go with me to the grave. The neck on that thing is not going anywhere - low low action is the name of the game. 19mm bridge spacing..... wasn't the biggest fan of the stock tone, but that's not to say it sounded bad, just a bit too hifi for me.

I searched "Yamaha club" and the basic club and the BB club both popped right at the top of the list.

I just picked up, and am currently in love with, a Yamaha BB1025X. It's their model that runs in the $1000 range you were refering to. They also have the 400's (lower range) and the 2000's (waaay too high end) series.

Here's a picture of the beast. Today I actually took it in to get set up with my strings of choice (D'Addario Nickle XL170-5) and just put some Loxx Strap Locks on.

Mola Ram, thanks for posting that, and adding that info, P&j set up! very nice! What kinda tone do these babies have? I'd be very interested in trying one, Btw Dude when I looked at your pic with the bass, I freaked! you looked a lot like my Nephew! Awesome looking bass! Great taste.

Instead of describing the tone I really think you'd be better served checking this demo out: James Lomenzo Review Yamaha BB 1025X : www.guitarthai.com - YouTube

I was looking to back to a more tradition bolt-on/passive bass and this video pretty much won me over.

Yamaha's production basses are all made by the same various contract mills as everyone else's, so most of the "quality" reputation is somewhat misleading. I've seen about the same QC for other brands from the same contract producers. Yamaha moves production around a lot, though.

Big problem with Yamaha basses is that they have -- like many brands -- pretty weak resale. So if you want one, I'd advise buying used because you can get nice ones for nearly nothing. :hmm:

I just tried a super low end Yamaha at Guitar Center, it was $177(the low price forced me to try it lol)! I plugged it in and was shocked at the sound, quality, and playability I got out of something so inexpensive. The pickup layout was a P&J and both had a great sound while I was playing it.
