I'm not a fan of White Basses with Chrome Hardware. :hmm:

The middle one makes the Black Harware look like an afterthought, the last one looks kinda naked.
Oh, btw, the last pic I "photoshopped" with paint :D

I'm now the proud owner of a resurrected Yamaha Attitude Standard 5. I got it in pieces and put it together again myself, and in the process I added an Artec preamp, too (three band eq with a parametric mid). The hole for the extra control pot was already drilled, so this bass has probably seen different electronic packages already. This must be the third generation! The pickups were also missing when I got it, but I was lucky enough to find an original set on the 'bay.
The neck was adjusted beyond belief. The truss rod was maxed out and it had a severe backbow. The bridge had been adjusted almost 1 cm higher than normal to compensate. Ridicioulus. I just loosened the trussrod all the way and let it settle in, and after a couple of days it's returned to its former glory. It's a great bass, although I never thought I'd appreciate a pink bass before!

It's been 20 years since I played a bass with a proper Precision pickup in it, and I'm surprised at how big difference it actually makes. Not only for rock'n'roll, but it's got a full and nice tone that works for anything. Running it full open on both pickups gives a much rounder and fuller sound than maxing out a Jazz bass setup. I can see why many players (Vic Wooten included) prefer a PJ setup! :)

So... I'd like to apply for a second Yamaha Club Membership number! :D

I sold a nice SBV last year and really missed it. IMHO they are very similar to a Reverend Rumblefish in neck feel, weight and GROWL!! I just snagged this one on eBay to FINALLY replace it!! :bassist: Based on what it costs to import one from Japan, I'm rather happy with what I got it for. My gas is curred :ninja:

OK, this is my first bass in quite a while. Always liked the sound of the BB series, and as they were in my price range (used), I bought one for a great price off of Ebay because the guy was honest and said there was a major scratch in the finish. Not really a scratch, as there's no wood showing through, more just a dent in the paint?:eyebrow:

Anyway, my BB-415 came with a hard case and all the fixin's. Plays great, and I love it. Here's a pretty crappy pic, but I'll post some better ones ASAP:p

Yeah, it's actually a great bass for not a lot of money. I never through I'd enjoy playing a pink bass (not that I'm snobbish, I just never imagined it!), but it's been a pleasant surprise to me all together. :)

Yamaha currently only makes the Billy Sheehan signature model. I like the PJ setup, but I don't think I could get used to having only the Precision and the Model one setup. Not my sound at all. But I know that the guys who play them love them, so I'm sure they are great basses.

These 5-stringers were only around for a few years and are becoming pretty rare these days I think. I'm glad I found one. It was purely coincidental, though... :)

I am the current owner of this rare 1971 Yamaha SA-17, a companion to the SA-15 guitar. I wonder if this is the eldest bass here? (It is secretly for sale in the TB classifieds...)

Back in the 80's I won a Black BB300 in a battle of the bands and it was my mainstay for years, excellent basic instrument with a modern/metallic version of the P tone.

Been rockin' my Yamaha RBX374 at practice recently! Omg, the tone gets better every week as I get more familer and practice up more!

I'm getting a Musicman Bongo next Friday and I'm almost disapointed! But the Yamaha is staying mine, and I'm sooo gonna see what it gigs like one of these days, even if the Bongo does sound as nice as I think it will.

It's got such a nice, dark sound for my type of music (gritty/dirty rock covers).

Tried some other Yamahas out recently too, and I can see the vibe at the "Yamaha tone". My Yamaha bass family WILL grow sooner or later, once I've got bored with my bongo and after that a Geddy Lee Jazz :D

:hyper:Wow, this is the first time I have seen somebody that has two of those antique Yamaha BB`s...that picture is like one of my fantasies when I was growing up, ha, ha...beautifully conserved both of them, I would have loved to get a BB series from those years as well taken care for as your two basses...thank you for the picture.:hyper:

Here is my TRB1006 with a story. About a year ago I was shopping for a new bass when I bought this Yamaha. I took it home and lamented about not buying the Music Man limited edition Bongo 5 string that hung beside it in the music store. Besides, I really didn't need a 6 string, so I returned it and bought the Bongo. I always thought about the TRB and also lamented about the distinct sound of the bass and the flexibility the c string offered.

Well fast forward a year and I am working on a lot of jazz standards and solos, thus wishing I had that same 6 string. I dropped by the same music store looking for another 6 stringer, and low and behold there is the exact same TRB for sale $600 cheaper than what I paid last year. I snapped it up on the spot, and I couldn't be happier. I love my Bongo, but this TRB is a beast of a bass. A few hours of set up time and she is singing in fine voice. Funny how things just seem to work out as they should. Here is a pic:
