Yamaha Peter Hook Signature Bass

Both Yamahas came that way, but talking about the Eastwood? Yeah. I got one from the first batch (no string trees and a badly cut nut) and the string retainer helps with buzz a lot. It does prevent me from using lower gauges on the high B and E though.

Yeah I was talking about the Eastwood, those trees on the Yamahas are stock.

Eastwood will send you the string trees if you want them, in case you ever want to use heavier high strings or something. They should've been stock though from the get go, I don't know why they took them off after having them on the prototype.

Also regarding knob settings on the BBPH, here's a pretty clear picture of the knobs from Hooky's show I saw in 2019. Side note, it was really strange being one of something like 10 other people in their early 20's at that show.

Interesting, he has the bass turned down and the mids turned up (unless I have the controls backwards), usually it's treble and bass all the way up or close to it, and mids at center. Do you recall what song he was playing?

All I know for certain is that it was something from Technique. I don't think he really touched the knobs at all during the show, but that's working off of one year old memory so I could be wrong.

Odd, maybe he adjusts the EQ elsewhere too then to compensate for that. I've noticed a few other times I've seen his settings aren't what he claims they are. But mostly it's been mids in the middle, treble at or near full, and bass at or near full.

I think it's more likely he probably just didn't realize it. He also thought the BBPH was active only and that it didn't have anyway to adjust the tone at all in passive until Jack told him otherwise during one of their Instagram streams.

I feel like Jack keeps correcting Hooky about a lot of things regarding the basses, some songs, and even some of his memories. Makes me wonder if it's really Hooky's signature guitars that keep coming out, or if they're Jack's just with Hooky's name attached hahaha

Jack is the only reason why Hooky even has a signature Yamaha now, since he's the one who brought it up to Yamaha that Peter's played their basses for 40 years, so in a way you're kinda right.

i think it all comes down to hooky had jack and years later jack helped him with bass lines in the light and helped him get a signature yamaha. hence the chicken and the egg.

Your 1000S looks great! Do you have any tips for polishing the pickup magnets? Mine are dark (not rusted though) and I've been meaning to see if I could make them silver again.
