I got a too good of a deal to pass on with a TRB6PII maple top. I should have it early next week...
never played them before, but looking forward to it.
as far as strings for a JP2. I have used DR lowriders or DR sunbeams all with
.130 B gauge, and I did enjoy punchiness on them. everybody I know, talks about elixir strings on the JP2...maybe it is the way to go..

Well, the bass arrived, and I am in love!!
I am really surprised how this bass sounds, nothing like the previous TRB's. it has a nice thick sound, even the C strings sounds punchy, the B strings is powerful, and the every note rings with lots of sustain!. it remains me of the Atelier in tone, it almost sounds like a single coil J vibe.Beautiful slap sound. Truly amazing finish too. Now......another surprise is this is a 18mm spacing NOT 19mm as I expected. The nut width is quite wide, and it doesn't really feel as tight, as some of the 18mm I have tried before.So, If can go over this minor issue, and get used to it, which I am already... This will be IT! the missing link, I have been looking for.

sorry to do that to you Bijoux but I think you particularly would enjoy playing around with the Piezo settings.
you can blend the piezo pick up under the single bridges, to your liking and it has a very transparent raw sound to it. you can hear more of the wood.
I am not sure what year this one was manufactured, but perhaps the new ones and older ones have different spacing? unfortunately, I haven't found a lot of these basses around to ask about spacing...
So far, its addicting! I'll put it to the test on a gig this saturday.

Keep us posted about how it feels on the gig! =)No, it has to mean that the one with more frets has a longer fretboard. If the scale length is the same and they put the frets closer together, the instrument could not be tuned.
The 12th fret, at one octave up a string, has to be 1/2 way between the nut and the bridge. The 24th fret, at two octaves up, has to be at 3/4ths the length of the string.

Well, last night to say the least was a blast.
4 horns,3 percussionist,guitar, piano,2 singers and the 6PII completely dominated the stage.
It produces a big punchy tone,that really drives and cuts through all those instruments . I only boosted the bass aobut 10% and treble 10%. the amp was set up flat.(favourite)
I had a couple of local bass players comment and how good the bass sounded out in the mix as well.
I usually bring two basses for this band, one Azola EUB and the electric 6 for more modern sound.
The azola by nature has a tremendous punch and low end, its right in your face, and the 6PII did not let down, when switching basses, it had the body,low and nice snappy pops!
Truly an instrument a bass player should try, highly recommended. lol
I know I have been suggested to work for Yamaha in the pastbut in reality this is da bass.
Now, as you can imagine I was telling myself all night, If this was 19 mm.......I would be the happiest camper in the world. and eventhough did not cause any accidents, I had to re adjust my right hand when slapping....
This type of gigs requires reading the whole night, and with the 19mm spacing basses, I don't have to think about the bass, I just play, But, the 6PII required a bit more concentration...
overall: AMAZING tone! if you are looking for a thick and snappy sound, a la single coil pick ups vibe with modern pops and a beautiful but beautiful B string. give it a try, you won't be dissapointed.
Sorry for the long update, I am just really excited and doubtful at the same time....the only way to solve this, is play the **** out of it, and get used to it LOL

that bass has a real fancy bridge. can't you change the string spacing? also is the neck a bit narrower than the other TRB's?
