YBA200 Sound Clips

I recommend doing this like someone already mentioned in this or the yba 2oo thread. Turn treble 0 mids full bass 0 range 0 and resonance 0. Then just increase all until you hear the sound you like. Worked for me and my settings are treble 4.5 mid 9.5 bass 4 range below 0 resonance below 0. Btw i use a ebs classic line 4x10 500watts 4ohms which is the best cab in price/quality/sound category :D

i think it is just easier to do it from 0 to 10 than otherway(dunno why). Both ways provide same result anyway!! so whats the difference how you do it? same power will come out of it anyway despite the method.

I looked at the schematic for the YBA200 in the service manual and it's basically the same as a Fender passive tone stack. So I looked at it in a tone stack calculator program with the values from the schematic and in the program the flatest frequency response curve was accomplished with the treble cut all the way, the bass up just a hair and the mid knob all the way up. All three at full up gives a fairly wide 10dB dip centered at around 175Hz or so (hence the lack of low mids in this amp) with the range knob all the way up. This also made me think about mods to this amp and it seems like just lowering the treble control cap would shift the midrange dip into a higher frequency so more low mids could be passed if that' swhat you happen to be after. I'm sure there are difference between the program simulation and the real world, but it's probably a close idea to start from.

Hi there Kolumbusz,

Sorry you found the links dead. I was hosting the clips on my webspace for quite a while, but recently I deleted them, 'cos I thought no-one would be interested any more.

I have uploaded them again, so try those links again and you will find that they work now. Instead of playing them straight off my server, if you could right-click each link and choose "Save target as..." (Windows) or Ctrl-click and choose "Download linked file" (Mac OSX) I'd be much obliged.

Cheers,
Ken (espidog)

great samples!

By anychance do you remember the settings you had for the clean sample and the overdriven sample? I really love that tone but i can never find it:help:

Thanks for that! I'll have a play around and report back.

On a side note, I just ordered a couple of JJ 12ax7s. Might pick up a 12at7 some time soon too. KT88s further down the line if these tubes make a difference.

Just as a follow up . . how are the KT88's working out? I'm planning on the same mod for new YBA200-2 . .

BTW . . . I dig your music on Myspace . .
