YBA200 Sound Clips

Mids on full. Range fairly low.

I'm really interested in swapping the tubes for JJ 12at7s and KT88s. I hear that'll increase the mids.

I'm thinking an EQ pedal might be on my GAS list.

Still, even with the lack of mids, I love the tone of my amp.

I've got the yba200-2 and I swapped out the pre-amp tubes for JJ12AT7's Best move I could have made. I put the 12AX7's back in the other day just to see how they sounded. They lasted 1 min and out they came.

In all fairness it also depends on the cabinet and EQ settings on the head. I get plenty of that old school tubey sound on my rig.

I just feel those sound clip, do not show the YBA200 in a good way.

I too swapped out the 12AX7's for 12AT7's. Killed the amp to me.
Swapped in a set of 5751's. That did the trick. Smoother but still has some overdrive when cranked to 10.

I like what the 12AT7's did for taming down the treble and helping the mids a bit. When you say smoother, are the 5157's as smooth as the 12AT7's?

The setting on the amp were:
Gain: 5.5
Treble: 4.5
Mid: 6
Range: 10
Bass: 2
Scoop: Off
Resonance: 0

I've recorded them with a Peavey Grind BXP-5, Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings, all pots on the bass on max.
