Yorkville TC112 cab - seen one yet ?

Damn. I was in there last Saturday but didn't get to the thing. In fact there was so many cabinets piled up on top of one another I couldn't see what they had in stock except for all the monster rigs in there. Maybe Reverend Groove has time to give us a review?

I've also been waiting to see if any of the new GK combos and cabinets have made it in to Canada yet. Doesn't look like it. They had one GK MB2 500 head there but it's old stock. I'd want the newest version. And I sure would like to try the new and lighter GK Neo cabinets.

I did hear some exciting news about Traynor bass amps if you're into tube heads, but I'll let Rev Groove tell you about it first if he hasn't already in another thread. I haven't kept up to date on all the postings in this forum lately.

I haven't tried it yet but I will if there's one in my local L&M store. It is a bit heavy though-55.5 lbs. I figured Traynor was going for a lightweight line. The 12 is light. No weight is given for the 1x15". That's sort of typical of Traynor. Their catalogues leave out important details. Don't know why.

I wonder what the price will be in Canada. We don't get any breaks on price up here. You guys in the USA get better deals I think.

I thought it and the 2x10 in the TC series were outstanding this time out...and that's a good price, snatch it!!! We sell it at LM for $685 CDN...

I'd expect that the ext. cab Markbass offers for your combo would be the best match. IIRC Mb uses proprietary drivers made for them by.., BNC? ('Not sure.)

I believe the Traynor TC 112 uses a Green Label Invalid Link Removed (please browse this thread for confirmation).

G-K makes their own drivers.

The matching Markie 12" cab is your best bet.

Maybe so but it costs twice as much and I'm not that crazy with MB cabs.......which is why I am asking about the Traynor TC112 and the GK Neo 112-II cabs....because even if they don't match well with the combo, I can always sell the combo and use the cabs with my LMII head.....

Perhaps an audition would be helpful?

Please give your local L & M a call. Even if they don't have the cabs you want to check out on the sales floor, they may be in the rental department.

Renting the two cabs and trying them with your LM II at a band rehearsal should clear things up in a jiffy.

This is excellent advice. I did it many years ago. Rented a pair of Yorkville 1x15" cabs to gig with for a weekend with my GK head. It worked so well that I went to the store on Monday morning and just bought the 2 cabinets I'd rented. Got a great price and used them for over 10 years with no problems until I downsized a few years ago.

It's on the gig that you'll find out for yourself how these things will sound. You get so many opinions on forums like this that it's impossible to be sure of anything.

L&M had a TC112 (used) for rental at the downtown location and I tried it out on my gig tonight with my CMD121P and it went quite well.....both cabs have lots of mids so I took some mids out and I also turned the tweeter off on the TC (unfortunately still have the piezo tweeter on the combo) and I boosted a bit of bottom and it sounded pretty good and the 25lbs helped a lot though I would only use this on outdoor gigs or no PA gigs, cause it's still more weight than I want to carry for every gig.......I had to order the GK Neo 112-II in Surrey to be able to try it since they didn't have any but don't know how long that'll take. I've rented the Traynor for 1 month so hopefully the GK will come in by then and I'll be able to A/B them and make a decision........

STILL WAITING FOR THE GK NEO 112 but I will give my MB150S combo a try with it, that might be a better match

Good for you for renting and giving it a real world test.

I suspect the GK extension will give you much more bass. My test of the Traynor cab showed me it was shy on bass and had lots of mids. Not surprising considering the size of the cabinet and the speaker used. Great cab for the Jaco enthusiasts.

I'll be interested in your impressions after trying both.
