I've thought seriously about the spreadsheet/strings thing.
Not only to track how old, but just to remember which strings I have on which bass. yeah, sometimes its hard to tell between, say, nickel rounds or steel rounds by the same mfg. at least it is for me.
But then again, I rarely keep a bass long enough to worry about changing strings (from the time I put on "my strings" after purchase).
But since I'm really trying to turn over a new leaf and keep things relatively stable in the stable, I might break out Excel.
