. . . You find yourself playing Chromatic Fantasy to the air as you walk through the hallways of your school.

. . . The only thing you can think about in class is playing bass.

. . . You get a job for the sole purpose of buying a fretless bass.

. . . You write your college application essay on Jaco.

. . . You find that penetrating ring of harmonics one of the most soothing sounds on earth.

. . . You look at epoxy as a bass repair tool rather than boat repair.

. . . You find yourself humming the bassline to 'Take Five' after jazz band, because 5/4 is an extremely catchy time signature.

. . . You're the only one who can name the time signature of a song your drummer uncle plays for you.

. . . You bring your bass to the lunch table.

All of the preceding are traits of mine, I just had to put some of them out there (and if I've repeated anybody, I'm sorry, I only got through 11 pages).

guilty of almost every one, and i have one to add.

-....when you're asked to write a 2 page essay on someone who's done great things with their life, and you write 4 pages on the life of jaco.

we musicians are some of the most pathetic people in the world. but, we have fun. can't argue with someone's who damn happy.(figurtivley speaking)

You know you're a bassist when your significant other offers to set cheap mousetraps to catch a mouse, but you say no you can do it, buy the expensive ones so that they don't snap and break your fingers, and then you make your significant other set the mousetraps anyways.

You just read through 30 pages of ways to know that you are a bass player and every single one applies to you...

here here!

-- you sleep walk to your amp at 4 in the morning, plug your Bass in and proceed to wake the whole house up with a rather loud, messy rendition of Wootens "me and my Bass guitar". ( :scowl: )

-- you give the word "Bass" a capital "B", no matter where it is in a sentence.

-- you design at least 20 Basses per day at school.

--you spend your WHOLE day on TB, when you have a rather important electronics exam tomorrow.

-- you have your GAS as your computer wallpaper.

...your wife can't open things like jar lids or bottle caps after you've closed them (toothpaste, shampoo, ketchup, peanut butter, mayonnaise, etc.)

I don't mean to tighten the bejeezus out of the lids, but years of bass playing has had an effect on my grip.

Boy, does she get mad when she can't open something....

"^$#@&!()$^$ bass player!!!! Get over here and open this damn jar!!!!"

Oops. :hmm: :D

On the flipside of that...

You know you're a female bass player when you never have to ask a man to open anything for you. And then you've gotta open a pickle jar for your drummer husband. ;-)

New here...

Cherie

:D

You know you're a bassist when you hear the clothes dryer in the next room and start to make up a bass-line to go along with the rhythm.

You use your tapping technique to dial a telephone.

Your first thought upon being shot in the hand with a pellet gun and discovering it's lodged in there months later is "Will this affect my playing?" As opposed to "I hope I don't get lead poisoning" or something equally rational.

You can listen to the radio and name session bassists from pop songs.

That's all I got. :(
