You know you're a bass player if...

I have been waiting so long for the discussion to turn to this. Now I can finally get this weight off my chest: Y'know how in "Modern Electric Bass" Jaco said how after a point, he was so familiar with the bass that he doesn't even need the bass anymore to finger, and essentially practice songs? That he was so familiar with his bass that he could practically hear it just by moving his hands in thin air? Well...yeah. Nevermind, actually. Moving on....

Sorry if these have been added already...I really don't feel like reading the whole 39 pages of this thread!!

You know your a bass player when:

Everyone else in the band has picked up a girl and your trying to stand near a group of people so its not so obvious your standing on your own.

Your listening to some music and you say to a friend 'Thats an awesome bass line/tone' and they say 'what bass line/tone'??

I wish I would have had one of those, I put a ding on the back of the neck one time :bawl:

I'm 5'11 and I only really have problems with trains and low ceilings. I could probably name each gouge in my bedroom by model and manufacturer.

haha naw no need for a vote, it's making me practice my limbo skills. i almost wish it would get shorter each time i go through it :hyper:

OH NO!! You need to upgrade your case!! No more neck dings! :(

And I'm glad I'm not the only one that bumps my axe(s) into stuff, from what you're saying...gave me a good laugh! Headstock in particular, as I rock the neck pretty high when I play so I can reach frets 1-4 better...

*KNOCK KNOCK* on the door...

...turn around...

THWACK.

"S#!T!!!"

Also have trouble bending over with the gig bag on my back...constantly plowing the headstock into whatever's in front of me...:rollno:

Body Glove. Sam Ash. Best $130 I ever spent. The Klutzy Bassist's Friend. :D

Shrinking CTA doorways...amusing thought. Right now I just want them to get that damn construction done on the Red and Purple Line tracks.

Back on topic--thought of one the other day...

...when you have to put foam insulation on your dorm room door to stop the nasty vibration it gives off every time your bass (or the bass-heavy music you listen to!) gives off a nice clean low E...:hiding: :D

(Had more complaints about the door vibration than about the pounding bass itself...;) )

when you are the only one in the band who knows the diffence between the sound of large/small speakers

you see the guiarist pulling a lot of girls but never taking any home
whearas you kinda get ingored, then find yourself at the end of the nite in a hottub with 3 girls
your the one with girls sitting on/around your amp with weard smiles on their faces
you can easily beat anyone at armwresting in the band
your the only one who can hold their drink
you have the longest relationships than anyone if your band
you wanna punch people who make music videos becouse you see more audience than bass player
