you look like a bass player

I get told I look like a bass player CONSTANTLY. I think it's probably just because I'm a big guy (6'4", 220). For some reason, when I see a picture of a band, I assume the big guy on the edge is the bassist, the guy who's either A) kinda overweight or B) kinda skinny and goofy-looking is the drummer, the short guy in the middle who's trying to look cool is the singer, and the other one or two are the guitar players. And I'm usually right.

I just got back from a house party, and we put the "what instrument do i play?" quiz to the test...it's crazy how many people get it right.

The most important thing is the hottest girl at the party reckoned i was a bass player because bass players are the "coolest and mellowest of cats"

sweet!

Maybe theres just a vibe that bassists give off.
I think so. Everyone else (guitarists, drummers, singers) is trying too hard to be...cool. Bassists aren't trying, they just are. It's a steadiness of personality. It's all in the eyes, those eyes, those eyes, damn those eyes!!!! Aieeeeee!
Sorry.
I find if your are looking at a promo shot of older players, the guy with the beret hiding the bald spot is always the bassist.

my girlfriend was in quebec a little while back for a french course thingy and she was talkin to someone she had met up there. and after mentioning me her friend said "can i see a pitcure" and after showing her the picture the girl replies"he looks like a bass player" my girlfriend said "how do you know that" and the girl just said "i don't know he just does"

I get this A LOT. People say that it's because of my long hair. I'm not very tall (1,7 Meters). But I do have boney hands with long fingers in proportion to my height, so that might be a factor. But I think the main reason is because I look like some kind of LOTR-dwarf. :D

i thought i was the only one! so this is what it feels like when doves cry.

seriously though, i call my place the hobbit house. the combination of how i look (way too similar to yours), the low ceilings, and the place being partially underground leave few options.

people always guess i'm everything but the bass player when they first see me. but if they talk to me first, then they guess i'm the bass player. don't know what it is...

A salesguy in a Radio Shack said that to me years ago. Now this guy did not know me. I guess he was just one of those folks who can read people.
A few years later a few of us took a break from practice and
went to 7-11 to get some snacks and we were talking about band stuff and the Clerk said, you guys are in a Band Huh? What's the name of your Band? Then he looked at me and said, I bet you play Bass huh? As it wound up, he was a Geetar playa and wound up running sound for us, the guy had a great ear.:bassist:

Bassists are just born cooler than the rest, and I've noticed I'm the most steady out of all my friends...
And I have been told I have absolutely beautiful blue eyes...

I must look like a bassist.... no ones loves me

I second the notion! I am not loved by anyone, even my cats run away when I start playing.
Of course, that may have something to do with things rattling off of stuff when I get into it...

People always come to me asking me what kind of music do i play before they even know my name. I look like a musician even now that im doing my best to not like one. (I CUT MY HAIR!!!!!)
I don`t look like the stereotype of bass player. Althought i look like almost all of you (tall, thin, really short hair now, really long hair before, big hands, Primus/RHCP/Cliff èm All/Jaco T-Shirts, etc), im really "charismatic" (in the sense of opossite of: "SHY"), and `ve a loud voice and im always talking to everyone, i used to be the center of attention in a party, and that kind of stuff.
People used to have the idea of the bass player as the shy boy near the drums and many of them think that im liying when i tell`em that i really play bass.

Until i saw flea and les, i always thought i picked the wrong instrument...
peace love and groove
forgive my english
