you look like a bass player

Most people who don't know me think I'm a violinist, cellist, pianist, dry cleaner, physicist, engineer, grocer, video game designer, karate instructor, etc... before they think I'm a bassist.:D

One guy thought I was a cellist. My response is "you must be mistaking me for Yo Ma Ma"

I must fit the sterotype too then.

No-one has picked me out although when I met the band I am now with, the Guitarist did say he would have guessed but he was kinda cheating.
I was their to audition for the bass part!

Goatee, Skinhead and stubby hands.

Stubby handed bass players unite!!!

I dont even play bass yet and Ive gotten this. When I was talking to my dad about how i wanted to get into bass his response was "yeah, that kinda suits you". I asked why and he said the tallness+chill attitude did it (not his exact words, but my interpretation =P )

I'm about 5'7" on a good day, 185lbs of muscle-turned-married guy pudge, short hair, usually clean shaven, fat hands and stubby fingers (short, stubby fingered club anyone?)

I don't think I fit any of the bass player qualifications, but I have gotten the "you look like a bass player" comment. Oh, wait....yeah it's probably cuz I'm black

For a while in college I put the bass down and did a solo guitar act. At least three times that I can recall, women walked up to me and said - "You look like a bass player, not a guitarist." I'll never quite understand if that was an insult, flattery or an observation of the huge bulge in my pants...
