You might be a Californian if...........?

I remember when I was a kid and they started selling sushi at Dodger Stadium. Late '80s I believe. It made the national news.

No more sushi but now they sell Hite (the Korean Bud Light) and soju (like sake/ vodka). Bad idea. Very bad. Just wait until the masses discover this thing they call soju. It's $3 a bottle at the market, tastes like water, works like vodka.

I used to live in LA's KTown. You don't need to tell me about the merits of soju. :hyper: Hite is also a good beer when eating those spicy Korean chicken wings.

I realised just two days before leaving on a trip to Chicago (in February) that I didn't actually own a proper coat...

People complain about it being 'muggy' when the humidity goes above 30%.

I've also found myself looking for Tri-tip on the menu when I'm out of state. Doh.

Strawberries come with nearly everything. Avocado on everything else.

Everyone you know makes the best Cadillac Margarita you've ever tasted.

You know three ways to remove beach tar from your feet....

They don't have tri-tip in other places?

Too funny. Yes strawberries & avocados are plentiful here. CA supplies 1/2 of the country's produce.

You guys are teriffic googlers, but that's not how it is used on the street.

Well, yes it is. The keyboard player in my former band is Mexican, and always used it as a greeting, both speaking and in emails. I live 30 miles from the border. I'm fairly hip to Mexican slang, having worked with many people of Mexican descent for the last 40 years. I have a few phrases that would get me a ticket here as soon as the mods translated them.

Hora Le means "right on (you). "Le" is the you identifier. It would make no sense if it was one word.

If you find instances of "orale", it's only those saying it phonetically who don't know how it is spelled.

You don't know what you're talking about. If you think "le" is an identifier meaning "you" in this instance, then you don't even speak Spanish. Why argue with those who do? ('le' as a you identifier is used in single words: cambiale, tocale, hechale, etc...)
