You might be a Californian if...........?

Yeah, in Sacramento they all have manure on their cowboy boots. Take away L.A., San Diego, and San Francisco and California would be the biggest hick state in the union.

But really, those are the 3 biggest cities in CA. Even add in Oakland, Sacramento - and there are most definitely not too many hicks there. Those 4 and you probably have 50% of CA's population. Add in our states huge Latino population, and there are probably very few hicks...as the Latinos tend not to be hicks.

Heh, go to the country...

You can go to the mountains, the beach, the river, the lake, the desert, wine country, an amusment park, a top shelf concert, museum, sporting event or restaurant anytime your little heart so desires. :D

And all in the same day!

Theyre just called by another name.

There are hicks everywhere. You can even find hick bars in NYC.

And the vast majority of latinos in the US are hicks or children of hicks, or "campesinos" as they're known in Spanish. It's precisely because they are hicks that they can't find work in their country and they move here.

Ummm, no. We have more than our fair share of hicks for sure as we have the farmland that supplies 1/3 of the country's agriculture, but there's a lot more metropolis than what you've described. It's a giant mixed bag out here, plus you've even got variety amongst the hicks. The hicks out in Barstow are a lot different than the hicks out in Sebastopol.

Sure, if you have a magic wand to make the traffic disappear. Otherwise, I think we're talking "same week.";)

Nope, the further one goes from downtown the less traffic one encounters.
Its posible to do all of those things and avoid high traffic areas.

Of all those things listed, the only thing thats really not in the vicinity of any others is wine country (for us Angelenos, anyway).

You're not looking hard enough. There are wineries in the Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario area...although some may not classify it as "wine country".

Or, head to the Solvang-Santa Maria area (2-1/2 to 3 hours from LA). It's DEFINITELY "wine country".

I know of those wineries (many more in Temcula, as well), I was referring to Wine Country (proper), Napa & Sonoma, et al.

I dont really care for wine, myself.

... if you can find chili-flavored sweets in every gas station.

When friends speak of the sporadic spectacle of rain as an extreme driving hazard. (And in snow they're helpless... bumper car status)

The majority of streets have Spanish names. And the cities, too, for that matter. "Old Mission? Sounds like a great place to raise my family!"

But we can all agree that Mexican food kicks @$$!

I will agree, but I believe you Californians will tell me whatever I am eating doesn't compare?

Yep. That's the one. Does anyone see this ad outside California? It just makes no sense to show it here. I live here already damnit!

I think I have, has surfers as well.

It was the sporting event which threw me. Desert to the sea is easy. The stadium location gets you stuck in traffic

For me...

Staples Center/Dodger Stadium - 30 minutes (including stadium traffic)
Santa Monica Beach - 45 minutes
Mtn. High Ski Area - 90 minutes
Desert - 60 minutes
Disneyland - 60 minutes
Wineries - 90 minutes (Temecula), 2-1/2 hours (Solvang)
Excellent Mexican food - 3.8 minutes

I just wish Home Depot was a little closer.
