You might be Prog if…

Wait, you need to say who you're talking about, Rush? Had a beef with who?

The best Frazetta paintings wound up as cover art on a Southern rock band's albums, though.

If your drummers kit barely fits in his bitchin conversion van.....

True story: In 1980 my writing partner and I were trying to put together a touring band to support the record we'd released (recorded by just the two of us) the previous year. We'd exhausted our (then limited) contacts who played drums, so we put a short classified ad in the local music rag: "Drummer wanted for post-punk progressive rock band."

Every single drummer who showed up to audition -- and this was at least 5 or 6 guys -- had an eight+ piece kit: double kick drums, four rack toms, one or two floor toms, a bazillion cymbals, several had the then-obligatory three mini rototoms... Most of them took longer to set up their enormous kits than it took us to determine that they weren't gonna pass the audition.

Two weeks later we posted the exact same ad in the same paper, only we removed the word "progressive" ...so now it just said "Drummer wanted for post-punk rock band."

Every single drummer who showed up to audition had a four piece kit: Kick, snare, rack tom, floor tom, done.

Uncanny.

if you're reading this thread

Why not? Proggers are bred for abuse. y'know…that whole "lone misunderstood hero" schtick that got you that sultry and adoring New Age GF…and her best friend…because she believes in open relationships.

Like the old bit of vaudeville wisdom teaches us: It may be total jive. But what the heck. If it works - go for it. ;)

You have several songs that require the use of a gong.
