Your favorite exotic top

I've always loved spalted maple. It just looks so organic. Someday I'll own a Spector with a spalted maple top.

So many... and it really depends on the individual piece of wood.
I used to think Bubinga was kinda generic as far as exotic tops go, until I saw some amazing waterfall bubinga.
A nice figured walnut - mmm... chocolatey good.
And some of the spalts, and mytrle... wow.

Buckeye burl and ziricote with lots of sapwood stripes. I've had a couple basses made with these two tops.

I also really like amboyna burl that has all three red, green, and yellow colorations on the same top, and Bubinga Pommele with both the red and yellow colorations on the same top.

I like buckeye burl, cocobolo, and 5A quilted maple. Each piece of wood is so different though, it really comes down to each individual piece to me. I've seen some gorgeous bubinga tops and some rather unattractive buckeye tops.

Hm...it really depends on the particular piece, but ones that consistently turn out well are quilted redwood, swirly bubinga/bubinga pomele, buckeye burl, and zebrawood.

Adrian Garcia has an FBass BN5 with a Macassar Ebony top that use to haunt me.

Also...koa, myrtle, shedua like you find on some of the Wals,
and I've always loved spalted maple.
