Your favorite unique bass shape

The "Pure Evil" spawn of MothMan?

Don't think it has anything to do with "Mothman". I've never heard of that one.

Cheers!

Ken Lawrence Brase 5 - ash/myrtle body with a wenge stipe, 3-piece maple neck with a chechen board, specially-wound Seymour Duncan soapbars, 3-band EQ - sounds and plays better than any other bass I have played!

Sorry, I just wanted to bump this picture a little further into the thread. Strangely, I feel a bit stirred within.

There is a certain elegance about the Yamaha SB-5A that I love.

My Yamaha SBV...my lead singer hates it

Your lead singer is a........well, a lead singer!!!

I'm heavy into instrumental surf....the SBVs and the Mosrites are popular there.

Hi

This one it´s my first build. I call it "El Venom" it´s a mahogany body with a Mighty Mite fretless p bass neck (with ebonol fingerboard), double P bass config (DiMarzio).

As you can see It is full of cosmetic errors, dings, scratches and everything that most people don´t want to see on their instruments.....but me. I don´t know I really like the way "imperfection" looks on wood, of course not going to extremes.

El Venom weights 9.6 pounds, perfect balance (no neck-dive) and plays awesome, although reaching the higher notes on the fretboard it´s quite a challenge; something I will correct on the next one indeed.

I´m currently on the early stages of making a new one, a 5 stringer but this time I will build the neck as well.

Hope you like it.

Here is a little video, actually it was the 1st time I test it. I had some problems with high action, but later solved with a chim.

Electra (later ones sometimes branded “Electra/Westone”) X700JB; same shape guitar got the somewhat cooler name of “Futura.” Surprisingly practical, as I can lean it against a wall and walk away without worry like I could with a V, but unlike a V, I can play it while seated easily enough. It’s also quite comfortable and well balanced on a strap. And if I ever need a boat anchor, this’ll do!

Electra/Westone did some fun stuff:

Among instruments I don’t have, the Ibanez Black Eagle and older Roadstars also do it for me.
