Your first bass vs. what you play now

First bass was a made in Taiwan piece of crap from Lafayette electronics with lots of useless knobs and switches (impressive to a completely clueless teenager).
Now I mostly play a 1996 MIJ '62 Jazz and a 2002 Epiphone Allen Woody.

First Bass, Encore Precision copy, which I think has tainted any love for P-Basses! Traded in 4 months later for ...
Second Bass, Aria Pro II my first active bass, loved the slim neck! Traded in 2 years later for...
Third Bass, Aria Pro II Magna 5 banger, first 5 string. Sold 10 years later to fund...
Fourth Bass, Tobias (Gibson) 6 string NT. Sold 5 years later to fund the wick
Fifth Bass, Upgraded Washburn Taurus NT 4.
Sixth Bass, Ovangkol Warick $$ 4, currently very very unwell.
(soon, but not soon enough!)
Seventh Bass, Clement 5 sting Fretted, in production

Wish I had been able to keep them all!! (yes even the Encore!!)

My first bass was a Peavey Milestone IV (P-bass copy). I still have it, though I'm heavily modifying it.

My main bass right now is a 70's Ibanez copy of a Ric 4001. When my Rickenbacker 4001 gets back from being restored, that will be my main bass, with the faker and the Peavey as backups.

1st bass was Corts cheapest cheapy. Now i have a vintage Pedulla MVP.

There is no comparison...... everything is much better about the Pedulla except that it tends to shift in humidity a bit and the Cort never moved, but it had an action about a mile high, and the Pedulla has a very low action.

my first bass was a third-hand Profile P-bass copy; black/tort/maple with a weak-assed pickup which I bought off a friend in High School. Oddly enough, the neck was super nice to play, for a cheap bass, but, in time developed a double warp. I've still got the bass, albeit with a replaced eBay Special pickup and a Yamaha RBX Fretless neck on it (middle of pic).

Now I play a Fender Aerodyne Jazz. Not sure if my first bass really influenced that, in fact it probably didn't... the first bass I really fell in love with was a Fender Jazz Deluxe played by someone in a prominent local band well before I started playing myself.

My first is what i still play its an Ibanez gio. It has ok sound i need an upgrade i love that bass to death but it just isnt on the same level as i am. i have a Squire P bass and i was goin to switch it for my Ibanez but i cant stand the thing the only reason why i have it is because it came with a 120 watt amp for 150$

Ibanez EDB400 > ESP/LTD D5 > Fender MIM Active Deluxe Special P and Squier CV 60's P.

It took me a year or so to catch the Fender bug.

my first bass from 1983 was a gibson rd standard. i now play a 4 string zon sonus unlined fretless, a fender jazz 4 string, a customed lakland skyline 5 string, a godin bg 4 string and a warwick streamer stage 1 nt 4 string.

Yamaha RBX170 If I recall correctly...first and only 4 string. This bass made me realize what I did NOT want to play. I then moved to a soundgear 5 string, which I liked very much minus the lack of strings. I then moved onto a soundgear 6 string of the same model. AGAIN, not evenough strings, hence why I am building my own 10 right now.

Sooo yeah...my first bass certainley does not reflect what I have/want now.

My first bass was an Espana Hollow body (like a Guild Starfire) that I got ine the 80's.
After that I play guitar exclusively for almost 15 years. Suddenly an old 60's jaspanese bass appear in a pawnshop for 26$. I bought it and restore it. Play that bass for about 5 years. Last week I bougth a MM Stingray (trans teal)... but I continue to play guitars in a band.
Bass is for relaxing at home when the kids are asleep

First bass in the early 80s was a red Hohnerberger. I sold it to buy a G&L ASAT once I was playing regularly at church in the late 90s.

I now play a Regenerate Guitar Works VRB-P5 (Pete) 5 string P bass made by our own Rodent. And I have Watts #46, a modified J-style body, quilt maple over mahogany, birdseye board.

Oh, and I have a Pedulla Rapture j2-5 that's for sale (to pay for Pete).

Any information on the Harmony. It sounds exactly like the one I found the other day. J-bass pickups as well as a mini humbucker at the bridge. two volumes, one tone. Ashtray bridge cover, elephant ear tuners.

My first bass was an ibanez gsr190 (came in a starter pack) Basswood body, P/J, 41mm but its more comfortable then a P bass (slim taper i think its called?)

then I got a squier P/J awesome bass a little heavier but still an awesome bass smoother controls then my Ibby it also had a 38 mm neck.

I always thought Thinner = faster... oh how I was wrong I played better with the ibby then i did on my squier. don't get me wrong the 38mm neck is awesome just not what i was looking for. after long thought I realized that Bigger = better I got my five string and i LOVE 5 string necks I'm honestly debating on getting a squier deluxe active V because it has like a 51mm neck *drool* and I'm never buying a 4 string ever again because honestly my ibby is everything i could ask for in a bass and my squier provides a more lighter tone then my ibby so I'm set with 4 strings.

My current 5 string bass is a rogue LX405 pro pretty darn awesome thing it murdered my gas

Oh and biggest influence has to be the basswood body since i love my tone on my ibanez I thought it was the basswood body

ever since then If it had a basswood body I jumped in joy.
