Your G&L history?

The only G&L I ever owned was an early 80's L1000 - sold it and picked up a 57 Reissue P-Bass. Always wanted another one and an L2000.

I only keep rough records; general descriptions of the basses I've had and what year of production they are (if I can tell). G&L-wise I am a mere piker compared to some of you guys.. I've only had 32 G&L's.

You guys are crazy! Im a noob to G&L. Got my first L2000 from duke12 in 2006 I believe (thanks again dood!) then a 1st gen SB-2 from Spiritfield in 2006 or 2007 (which also belonged to duke12). Then I bought and sold a few L1000s until I found the right one a maple hog from late 1980. Now G&L is all I play.

No problem here other than storage.

The eight Laklands were making it more difficult, but now I'm down to just 6.....

I've got 6 string swings hangers on the wall. If I go above that number something has to go. And I try not to spend money I haven't made via playing on gear (which hasn't been much lately). So rather than accumulate basses I turn them over . . . makes it a pain when my taste flops from L2K to SB2 and back.

You know if I kept more basses I'd buy fewer - I'll have to run that by the wife and see if she buys it.

I'll have to get out the tape measure and see if I can fit a couple more string swings on the wall next time she's out of town . . .

Up until 4-5 years ago I never even considered G&L because of the eye gouger headstocks. I know it's ******** but it's the truth. I got a gig on drums with a blues band and the bass player brought in an L-2000E and later an L-2500. They both sounded and felt amazing, and suddenly the headstocks didn't matter anymore. BTW I like the eye gougers now.

I was put off by the eye-gouger at first glance. Then I discovered that I can't see it once it's strapped on and it didn't bother me since.

I got 2 USA L-2000s. The first in 2006, the second in 2007. They stay with me, I'm just starting to get rid of some non Fender designed basses.

My first bass that I actually owned was a birthday gift from my girlfriend at the time and is a Series 10 P replica. I had genuine Precision pickups put in it, and I still have it and play it.
Second came my Hohner BBassV. My heart was set on a Curbow at the time, but thank God, I played it first (Ugh).
My G&L was received in trade for a Roland XP-10 that the keyboard player wanted for its organ sound (for "bubble" in reggae). The bass had sat in his garage for the better part of a year after moving to NC from CT. Amazing instrument. My cab became a casualty of war the first time I played it....
