Yup, that's a toll plaza where we're setting up to play. I've played many and sundry odd places over the years, but this was my first toll plaza. Every year the bridge authority in Halifax, Nova Scotia, closes the MacDonald Bridge for one summer day for a bridge walk or occasionally a bridge race where people can go back and forth on foot over one of the bridges that span the Halifax harbour. (It's the second-largest natural harbour in the world, behind only Sydney, Australia.) There's food and there's entertainment: our big band in the main toll plaza and various walking dixieland-style groups walking the bridge. Live long enough and you get to play just about everywhere.
Tonight’s wedding gig was “tight” in more ways than one. Thank goodness for earplugs!
Well nuts, I don't have any pictures of the 60's when I started, but here's one from the early 70's when I was touring with this nightclub group. Had a keys player at the time too but he'd given his notice, so the photographer didn't include him in these promo shots.

This one below is at SnoTown Brewery in Snohomish, WA. It's a brewpub and this was an outdoors gig so I brought my DNS-410 with me instead of my 210. Half way there I had to turn around; go back home; and get my speaker cord, which is a banana plug on one end and a Speakon on the other end. I got there with time to spare but the guys were all set up when I did and they didn't leave me any room for my amp on the back of the stage. So I had to set my amp on the asphalt of the parking lot behind the stage. The shelf port of my cab was pointing under the stage but the four 10" speakers were above it and about 5-feet behind the stage. I compensated for that distant placement by turning my master up to 10:30 instead of the normal 9:30 setting I normally use playing outdoors. That was too loud so I turned it down to 10 o'clock and I was still too loud. So then I turned it down to 9:30 and it was great.
Here's a video of one song I'm singing (and messing up) and I'm definitely too loud. I had my master at 10 o'clock on this song and turned it down to 9:30 afterwards. Evidently having my amp on the asphalt 5-feet behind the stage was no big deal.
This is the small stage in the Dreadnought Brewpub where we played over 40 Friday nights a year, hosting their Open Mic Night events.
This was the Wings & Wheels Music Festival in Monroe, WA. It's a fund raiser for the Special Olympics each year.

Are there any bands with an average age under 60?
60+ seems to be the demographic these days for live music players on a local level.
The day my GK MB150e 112 died for the 4th time at a morning outdoor promotional gig for a new entertainment district. The Markbass Little Mark 250 Black Line sitting on the GK is running the 210 cab below the GK. Yes, it looks like an ancient Peavey cab, and the cabinet is ancient, but the speakers are the same as what is in an Ampeg SVT 210 AV. The old Peavey cab is sealed, slightly larger volume than the Ampeg, and sounds great to my ears. That’s a Kubota skid steer in the background. The area was under construction….
