I wear purple Vs and purple argyle sweaters a size too big and play with an ESP LTD F-155DX. Soon I will cover my case with purple duct tape and paint the shell of my amp (not the grill. I'm sure that could get bad.) Being in a band that plays like Foo Fighter songs, I tend to jump around a little. My band rhythm/singer says I need to lower my strap a little, so I have to get used to slapping with a low strap so I can look cool. -_-

Guys that look cool never try or even think about being or looking cool.

I'm concerned about a couple of things in this thread....

A. a male who comes on here and says "I've got the physique to pull it off".

B. guys referring t t-shirts as "tops". Girls wear a "top".

If you guys are trolling for boyfriends there's other websites for that.

Just say'n

I quite like the idea of having clothes that depict a completely subverted image to the music you're playing. (suits with heavy metal, gothic for a jazz band...)

Would make for an interesting presence :)

I think your right, I think seeing a metal band in suits would be a riot.

that guy's from the UK. over there, t-shirts are "tops". underwear is "pants", pants are "trousers", and then there's something they call a "jumper" that I'm not too sure of.

* the more you know *

A jumper is a hoodie without the hood (Thats the best thing i can think of at the moment, its 2am here and christmas has just finished), and to most of us underwear is underwear, pants are pants, and trousers is just a word for posh people that i never use.

Oh and i use top instead of tshirt as it shorter and easier to type, and as was pretty much said in the quoted post, they're an interchangable term over here.

Depends on the gig.

I usually wear a light colored, worn jeans, my brown boots, (not my Red Wings I work in that are covered in grease, mud and other crap,) a Red Sox cap and an old, faded tee shirt to a 'rock' gig. I might have my beaten to hell straw hat.

For the progressive/ heavy metal band, I go for my black set of work boots, the ones I wear in the shop, a dark set of jeans, and a tee shirt of solid color. If cap is called for, I will wear one. Depends on what set we've got.

I have a leather jacket I an wear, but prefer not to as it's bulky and a pain to wear.

Black always works for me.

as I posted before I do sometimes polish my boots

My normal attire is jeans, cowboy boots, and my shirt style depends on where I am going. It can be anything from a button up to a T shirt... stage attire is pretty much the same

Hey, I grew up on a working cattle ranch... boots are pretty much all I have ever worn

We thinks the best outfit when playing on-stage is a smile. I've seen thousands of pictures where the musicians either look like they are at a funeral or don't even have eye contact with the audience...

I agree. There is nothing worse than watching a bass player stand on stage looking bored. I get comments that I am always smiling and really look like I am enjoying myself, which I am. If you're not smiling and having fun, why do it? It's more about your attitude than what you are wearing. If you're having fun, that will come across to the audience.:bassist:

Gets hards after a little while, I hate wearing the same outfit more than once...
That brings up another point - how does everyone here (and your bandmates) feel about wearing the same thing more than once? Especially if you play local gigs and have a following so you have many of the same people in the audience?

Depending on the venue and the type of band your in, I don't think people notice what we wear that closely.
