My Chris Squire Signature Rickenbacker was around $1200 (?) new in 91, when I got it. I guess it's worth a bit more now.

Your Most Expensive Bass?

bought a 4003 brand new thinking that would be the most i'd ever spend on a bass. last month I picked up a brand new Gibson ES 335 Bass, which i guess had been sitting unused for 2 years due to its price tag (i think it was around $2,300+tax)
Congrats OP, I'm getting married in August myself. Trust me - money spent on the wedding is for just one day, but a bass is for life... yet (ok you probably knew that but I mean trust me on this next part) none of that makes any difference to her! The wedding is a day to remember for life! Or some such nonsense...
My most expensive is my Fender Nate Mendel sig P (bought it used for $650). Feels too pricey though considering I mostly play my $400 (new) jazzes.

So far my most expensive bass is my still main bass, a very nice Ela bass that I got used for about $1,400.

So far the most I've paid for any bass was $750 for a G&L L1000 I saw on eBay over a year ago. I have yet to spend over that amount for any bass or piece of equipment yet. Not like I haven't been tempted.
My two most expensive both listed for $1,500. A Gibson TBird SS and a Guild Starfire.
Got the TBird for $700 off of eBay as there were a bunch at once and this one I was about the only bidder. Got the Starfire special order from my local music store and ended up paying just over $900 for it.

Not very. I got the Ripper 30 years ago for $200. A comparable Gibson would be around $1000 today for a new bass.
I allowed $400 for the SB14 in a recent trade, so that's arguably the most.
I bought the SX P last summer because it was way cheaper than a refret on the Ripper. With the Q-filter mod, it's quickly taking over as my favorite passive bass, which is rather a surprise after so many years playing the Ripper. But then, not really, because it turns out what I like most about the Ripper is the neck pickup sound using the Q-filter.

Al of my basses are used.. The most expensive one new would have been my KZ6 which I no longer have... and I bought that for 1k used.. Out of the basses I currently own the most expensive would probably be my Kingston Heir which new would be going for around $1300... but as far as what I actually paid for my currently owned basses.. I would have to say the modded Brute is the most expensive.. Most of what I do is for free with church at the moment so I am not paying any bills with my playing.. and given my current level of satisfaction with my current stable of basses I don't see getting anything new for a while... with the possible exception of some kind of P bass down the road.. and that would be a want.. not a need..I have 3 go to basses to choose from that are just great basses in their own right with the rest being specialty basses... as a 6er, a fretless, an ABG or the 4 banger which was my first real bass that I keep mainly for sentimental reasons..... so at this point spending more than $700 give or take.. even for that P would be something I probably would not even consider..
Well, my most expensive bass is my next one. My wife told me it would cost half of everything I have...

I got a late '60s EB-2 for the equivalent of 8 cents. It's worth more than that now. The most I ever paid for a bass guitar was $1200 for the Ric. I figure that was about right, and it is probably still worth about $1200. Other than that, I'm pretty much a bottom feeder.
