No matter what is being asked, if the OP is a question about a cab, there will be someone telling you that you should be playing a Greenboy cab within the first 5 posts.
It's something new. People get excited over new things that perform better than the traditional stuff that they were used to.
Hey, you do have to admit that Greenboy does a hell of an execution with cabs like that. He was one of the very first to build bass cabs that took advantage of those hi-xmax woofers and it's a solid design if that's what you're into. Credit where it's due.

The Ampeg 810 is without a doubt one of the most recognizable and accepted bass cabinets out there. I have one as well as a 410HLF that I played for years. As an authorized builder for the Greenboy designs I also have fEARful and FEARLESS cabinets. I encourage the curious to come make their own comparisons between those cabs as well as whatever they would like to bring.
Generally players seem to have a consistent choice as to which cabs they prefer, but it surprises me how many ask me which one sounds better.
My answer is always that it doesn't matter what I like, it's about them, and having the confidence to go with what they like. Without that confidence there seems to be a need to convince others that your choice is the only true solution. At the end of the day, they're the one that has to be pleased with the sound regardless of what others think.

I never said his cabs weren't great. I was just saying that the people that use them seem to have the need to try and sell that type of cab to other people. It's the same with 810s, 212s, 412s and everything else to an extent. But the GB guys are fanatical about it.
Myself, I like the sound of old school 810s and 215s. I don't mind that they are heavier and not as efficient as the GB designs. I like they way they color the sound and I don't like the hi-fi completely transparent loud speaker design of the GB stuff. But I don't get mad if someone has a differing opinion.
My experience with cabs is pretty decent and they've all been for live band settings with versatility being my main goal. Early on, I played through an svt cab, then a 2-15, then both. Solid sound. I then played through a Swr 410/18 for awhile, from there to a badass JBL p.a. top, an Eden 4-10, then Bag End 15's and 18's, and then I did the "let me see what little I can getaway with" by checking out neo 12's , combos using P.A.support , then a Berg HS410 and I just got done with a Genz 610.
After playing a friends ampeg rig, there was something I heard (that I liked) that I hadn't heard in awhile. It's just such a solid sound. I decided to look for a used SVT cab. I was going to check out a near mint regular 810 for $600 but along the way was a used Heratige for $900 ( only two years old ). I bought the heratige based on it's rarity at first, one of two hundred and I figured a great selling point down the road since that's my m.o. It sounds flippin' great ! Had the guy not responded back that same day I would've ended up with the regular S.V.T. and that would've been o.k.
When a good sounding cab sits that high , it's awesome. I only used it for one show and a couple rehearsals but I'm liking it and so is everyone else.

There are far more "GB guys" who are not fanatical than those who are. You don't hear from them, or don't notice that you are hearing from them because... well... they are not being fanatical about it.
I think anyone can become pretty zealous when your cab blows you away over and over again. Ampeg, GK, Mesa, Berg, MarkBass... people don't seem to half-heartedly recommend what they love.

I wouldn't either.
It is clear that you have had great experience with many of their offerings and are eager to share those experiences... and you are also honest about the models that have shortcomings which is admirable.

No worries man. I did say that everyone seems to defend what they play, and everyone seems to interject their own rig into any thread no matter what was asked. Why I said the fEARful guys were more fanatical is it seems like a few people just cant resist the urge to post pictures of their rig in any thread no matter what the thread is about.
