Your opinion on this relic job

I have a 70's p bass neck that I love and have had on a few different bodies now. It has a nice patina and a few dings that look cool. I try not to be too picky about looks but I alway felt it looked out of place on bodies with a new glossy poly finish and always kind of wanted a vintage body to match it. This body came up in the classifieds and I bought it. I admit I had my beer goggles on at the time. Looking at it now I'm not sure I like the relic job. I like the yellowing and aging of the paint but do the chips around the sides look a little to deliberate and fake? As if someone purposefully went at it with a set of keys or something. Anyway let me know what you think. Here's a pic and a link to the ad:

I agree it looks fairly subtle to me. Does it look EXACTLY like a real vintage bass? I dunno, I honestly haven’t seen enough up close to tell. But it doesn’t scream fake to me…and I’ve seen a lot of relics that do. This one looks cool IMO and I’d play the heck out of it.

I think it will look fine once you install a pickguard & hardware.

The marks on the edges do a look a little too evenly distributed, but that is just all the more reason to put some honest wear on those areas.

Put some screws in the neck mount holes , tie a rope to it , and drag it around the yard or gravel driveway until you get the amount of aging you like.

I think it's subtle enough to be a good start to some real wear once you start using it.
