As of late I've been using my GGG tuned muff a lot live, which is funny because back when my green Sovtek was my only fuzz it never worked out live or even in rehearsal, either too boomy or gritty. But the tuned has MIDS and is more fuzzy, so important.
Now part of this I think is I've switched my main amp from a SVT CL to a Mesa 400+, the tuned muff worked better then the Sovtek through the ampeg but it still didn't shine. But with the Mesa it is pure fuzzy hugeness. I like pure fuzzy hugeness very much so this is a good thing.
I find it funny though that I'm going back to a BMP [at least for now], but although I love all my other fuzzes a muff variant seems to be the least quirky. I love quirky, glitchy, buzzy, weird fuzzes but more for recording/jamming then gigging.
As for filters I'm back to using the 00funk instead of the Moog, do to size and roadworthyness [mine gets tweaky sometimes], although it isn't as lush as the moog it does the job despite the tweakyness of the controls. I like "synthy" filters more than "funky", IMOP funk is in the groove not the filter.
And what is this all about?
I'm putting together a PT-JR for live, and I'm going for fool proof more then versatility.
and the chosen line up will be if I can fit it:
Tuned Muff > 00Funk > HAO Rumble Mod > Tone factor Sugar Baby > MXR phase 45 [I'm giving a lot of though though about building a GGG one and keep the vintage one at home though; I'm also thinking about putting two of them in one box for extra swirlyness and being able to change speeds on the fly] > Demeter Compulator
Tuner will not be not be on the actual board.
Also I'm giving thought to getting a Loopmaster 2 loop looper.
And if I can fit it I'll put my MXR M-88 octave on as well....

No pics of this stuff...sorry. Started with an EH Small Stone, an EH Zipper, and an MXR 6-band EQ. Quit using effects for a while, then got a KMD Overdrive and a Boss CE-3 3 years later and started again.
Then I built a huge ridiculous board with a Boss ME-3 multi, a Small Stone, the KMD overdrive, a Deluxe Electric Mistress, a Dr. Q, and a Rat II, and abruptly ditched it in the middle of a gig when it quit working, and discovered how badly my sound was getting eaten alive by the effects. Not a single effect for the next 6 years.
Then I decided I wanted a compressor and I added a dbx 266x compressor that got replaced by a FMR RNC 1773 early last year. 3 years ago I added an EBS Microbass II to switch between electric and upright I had just worked into the act. Then I got the effects bug again and put together a small board with the Microbass, the RNC, a VT, and a Zoom B2 multi.
I've since ditched the RNC. And if I was smart, I'd ditch the rest of it. Nobody gives me crap about the goofy sounds I get with it, but it really feels like a mid-life crisis move to have all these pedals again

it sounds a lot better with bass than Little Big Muffs do and I think it sounds better than the NYC Big Muff does (judging from clips). Still some bass loss, just enough that I'd like to get a Bass Big Muff but it does sound good. I'd make clips but don't have anything decent to record with.
That was a great little set up, I'm planning to buy another BMS and every so often, I get a little GAS for another muff'n.
Then there's a gap in pictures for a while and this came

.I wasn't really feeling the Cream Pie. It didn't get as gritty as I wanted and the tone with my amp wasn't really what I wanted.
Update:
I'm unsure how long I will be keeping the GGG on my live board. Although so far it is the best muff I've come across it isn't getting me what I want which has to do more with the way it clips then anything else, it's too smooth in low and to distortiony cranked, I want a chunkier and buzzier sounding fuzz but with the massive lows. The DE cherry pop almost gets me there but it isn't tight enough. I think a Katanasound SUPER BASS FUZZ would be IT but the price......
and the availability.........
My all time favorite sounding fuzz is the HAO THE ROAR, but it needs a buffer and it isn't loud enough even with everything cranked. So I'm going to build a buffer and stuff a THE ROAR with a buffer and a Rust boost in one box and add a powerful tone control, I think this will be my best bet for true happiness; in terms of fuzz anyway.

I took my GGG-tuned Muff off my board as well. I like how it sounds with the tone around noon but it just looses too much low end at that point. So I'm going to mod it for better low end and hopefully it will find a spot. There's going to be some tough competition once I get my Bass Face built.

It's an interesting little thing. I figured I wanted either a ring mod or a bit crusher as part of my setup. The best ring mod I've used is the Moog but it's just too big for my board. I'd like to try a Frostwave but they are very tough to find. And TheBurgerMeister stated that the Android wasn't good with active basses which is all I play. I don't care for the Frequency Analyzer (and it's huge) and the Frantone Glacier is cool but a bit too much money to shell out for an effect I wouldn't use that often.
So I decided I'd go bitcrusher and just wait for the Holly Erectus. But then I saw the Heliotrope in the classifieds and just bought it on a whim. I'm not sure what the actual effect is, but it sounds like a ring mod and an analog version of bitcrushing. I very rarely play it by itself, but adding it to a synthy line gives it some interesting texture.
I'm still waiting for the Malekko, but it's a cool pedal in the meantime.
