Just for fun...

Here's mine, in no particular order.

Anthem
Bastille Day
2112 Overture / Temples of Syrinx
The Big Money
Camera Eye
Tom Sawyer
Spirit of Radio
Red Barchetta
Limelight
YYZ

Needless to say if you look at that lot, but my favourite album is Moving Pictures. Recently, though, I've really been enjoying Different Stages CD3, recorded in 1978, as I actually saw them on that tour (Farewell to Kings).

EDIT Just looked it up online - I saw them at Birmingham Odeon on 12th Feb 1978, the Different Stages set was recorded eight days later at Hammersmith Odeon, London. Just a few weeks away from being 30 years ago. Wow. I remember writing a review and getting it published in one of the rock mags out at the time. Never saw the £15 they promised to pay me for it though. :(

Great thread :D

Mine is (chronologically):

Anthem
Lakeside park
Passage to Bangkok
Xanadu
Circumstances
Free will
Tom Sawyer
Red barchetta
Subdivisions
New World Man

I'll have to go into a top ten of the next era at another time :p

La Villa
YYZ
Analog Kid
Hemispheres
Cinderella Man
Xanadu
Vital Signs
Natural Science
Far Cry
Freewill

There is no way for me to fit all I like about Rush into a top 10. But songs I find myself playing the most, or have enjoyed playing the most in the past, would I guess fit into this category. You can tell I tend to favor the "second phase" Rush period quite a bit, and then a little bit of their 80's synth stuff, and finally I really really liked their new album opener. First new Rush that's just grabbed me by the lapel in a few years.

Songs that I really like too but aren't on the list, even though I play them all the time, are Limelight and Red Barchetta, plus everything off Caress of Steel, which I used to play all the time.

a passage to bangkok
roll the bones
tom sawyer
malignant narcissism
freewill
distant early warning
cygnus x-1
spirit of radio
main monkey business
far cry

i love all of their stuff, even the synthy mid 80's stuff...less so maybe, but i still love it. saw them in auburn this last jusly, and cant wait to again! :D

Couldnt have said it better, Max. 'Caress...' was the first thing I bought (used Archives 8 track!) after hearing 'Permanent Waves' on Fm radio for the first time, and I still really like that because it was something that I wore out- and that began my 20+ year following. Snakes & Arrows is definately another great album, imho! There is just to much to list :bassist:

Btw, I really enjoyed your myspace originals :)

Red Barchetta
Animate
The Trees
Red Sector A
Subdivisions
Different Strings
Force Ten
Ghost Of A Chance (if only for the lyrics)
Something For Nothing

And since it's so hard to pick the 10th one, I'll just say The Spirit Of Radio because it just never gets old. It's great to hear any Rush tune on the radio, but that's the one that I crank the most when it comes on.

Rush is my #1 band and has been for quite some time, and I doubt that will ever change!
