Your Tube amp

I've had a bit of a clear out but should have 2 new Matamp heads by the end of the month.

Until yesterday when the Strategy sold I was rocking this

Simms Watt PA100 MkII and a Mesa Boogie Buster 200 2x10 combo at a Matamp 8x10 and 4x10

To be honest this sounded like ass and was no where near the volume I had hoped :D

Mr Bear...
Love that 'pics only' Orange 120!!!

Appreciate that very much.TB is the only place I get to show of that lovely beasty as it has been my studio only amp for about the last 30 yearrs now.

I'm sure she appreciates being able to "get out of the house" once in awhile, even if it is only a virtual road trip around the world.

Oh it's a beauty! Can you please tell me/us a bit more about it? Tubes, impedances, tones etc...

I've got a three day session there next week.

IF I remember to bring my camera I will get some gut shots for TB members to drool over.

I do not recall, personally, looking inside for the last 30 years or so.

Possibly even a sound clip or two with some different tone settings as well.

As a happy V-4B owner who's never had a chance to try the Traynor, I'd like to ask: What did you like better about it?

The reason I moved on from the V4-B, is it just gets too dirty, too soon, the Traynor YBA-3 is a much cleaner sounding amp, especially when loaded with 6CA7 tubes, and if you do the mods as described on the Velvet Black website, it makes it a very nice sounding/desirable gigging amp ..... IMHO:bassist:

Well, I GUESS I could be talked into posting my offerings again.....

I actually just got her back last week from Mr. Conrad Sundholm himself, who gave her a good going through, replaced the 42 year old caps, and installed a grounded power cable so I'm no longer getting zapped. It had a big sound before, but now it's just monstrous. Of note though, this amp is a bit of an oddity as it has no date marked on the chassis (we're guessing late 68/early 69 due to grille and rectifiers) and it is lacking a gain stage. I thought it might have been an aftermarket mod, however Conrad said that the amp hadn't been touched since it left the factory, and that the missing gain stage was the factories doing, for one reason or another.

John, you SOLD the Sound City? :crying:

I was going to ask you about that amp... Damm!!!

Oh well, lesson learned, he who hesitates is indeed lost.

yeah. i sold it to a TB member that as looking for a nice vintage tube head. i loved that thing, but i have so many amps, that once i a while i let one of them go in order to buy more of 'em. ;)
