It'd be a serious issue for me; I only play acoustic, and there just are no decent acoustic basses for unplugged play under $1000, unless one gets really lucky and finds someone dumping a used Tacoma super-cheap (once upon a time they went for $650 or so...no more) or an old Martin B-1, which I already have.

Have you tried [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]? They also come in fretless.

Lakland Skyline 55-60 fits that spec exactly and is under $1000 used.

I could play the "$500 bass" game, but... other than just arbitrarily picking something, left handed or not, I can't play. There are only 2 basses I need to complete my herd, and while I might be able to get one of them ((A Kramer XKB-10 like this one) for a grand, I sorta doubt it. But, a lefty? In the next hour or two? Not a snowball's chance in Hell. I've been looking for one of them for years... The other bass I want? A grand wouldn't begin to pay for it...
