Zon basses - is everything OK ?

Yeah, I don't know if I'd even want the bass after waiting that long.
The Vinny was ordered with a very specific purpose in mind for traveling. Since I ordered it I’ve received three other travel instruments from Jerome Little and Andrew Drake all great instruments and built within 10 months of deposit. I have been enjoying them immensely for the last 3 years. Kind of in a catch 22 situation because all deposits are nonrefundable according to Joe and if I do cancel it I’ll be out a chunk of change. I’ve waited this long so I might as well just wait it out. At this point there are no other options available.

Out of curiosity, anyone have their lawyer draw up a letter to send Zon to get it done or risk a minor lawsuit along with the bad publicity that will come with it? Or even just threaten it (but be willing to follow through)? Might be like pulling blood from a stone, but ??

Yeah, I think the cost of going forward with that outweighs the benefit. Also, Zon's policy is no refunds so I don't know what sort of legal leg any of us would have to stand on. Would be interesting to see what a lawyer would have to say about it.

Yeah. I know it's a long shot, but sometimes a letter like that gets things moving in the right direction. After all, putting down a deposit is akin to signing a contract for delivery. No delivery, contract is null and void. Anyway, just a thought.

Just out of curiosity … is Zon continuing to complete & deliver new basses ahead of these 1/2 dozen or so delayed orders?
There have been some Billy Gould signatures that have been delivered to some fellow TB'rs. I believe they were delayed beyond their initial anticipated delivery dates, and those were due to delays in the special preamps for those instruments.

I don't recall seeing any other deliveries that have taken place.

This thread has plenty of bad publicity. I'll never even think about ordering from this guy.

This +1000. Honest communication would alleviate nearly all of this trouble. I don’t mind the waiting nearly as much as the uncertainty.

My hunch is that Zon has no idea when they'll be able to complete your bass, and while you might appreciate them telling you exactly that, their experience might be that most customers with overdue orders would find that unacceptable. Again... just a hunch.

P.S. I agree with JuanB's sentiment: hope you all get your basses soon.

Plus one to all this. And the reality is, a business with integrity would just be upfront about that reality and say, “we don’t know when we can get your base done because of XY and Z factors. If you need to have your deposit refunded we would be disappointing but we understand”.

but being shady and dishonest about time frames, communication channels and delivery dates is just garbage business. I think Joe makes a fine product but all of this is just 100% professionally unacceptable.

Just a little honesty goes a long way. In terms of refunding deposits I have asked (rare time getting a response )to get mine back and Joe basically said nope read the build sheet.
