Zon basses - is everything OK ?

Considering I did get a bass back from this recently... You're going to have to be a bit of a pest to get any movement with them.
Took multiple emails from me every week past the due date to get my bass back and even when I did, there were some small imperfections in the finish.

Also got the family emergency thing every month I asked when I was going to get it.

Serious question: how does this help this thread? Or did you just say this to make yourself feel better/superior because of something unrelated going on in your life that makes you feel inadequate?
I just stated my opinion on the subject. Didn't realize I had to have money in the pot to do so.

Carry on, its just my opinion. I hope everyone gets what they paid for without any further issues. I'm just frustrated for the members in this thread. I don't like seeing good people run around is all. No need to leave since you got skin in the game. I will see myself out and keep my opinion to myself.

I have three outstanding orders. I welcome anyone who wants to voice their concerns.

I myself am glad someone shared this thread with Zon Guitars. Anyone can be a ally.

There should be no need to have to ask for what you have paid for with your hard earned money. I am truly hurt that that my situation with this company is this bad and that the same excuses are given to everyone.

At the end of the day Joe is running a business.

Hey, kinda wish you hadn't done that...there is no negative feeling on my end, and I don't want them perceiving it that way. It is what it is, and this was meant as (initially) an earnestly concerned question regarding the health of either the people or company of Zon Guitars (it turns out that circumstances beyond their control - a fire, family emergency, and pandemic - contributed to the backlog). The thread morphed into a support group I think more than anything else, which was ok and even comforting at times.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't want them to slap a bass together hurriedly just to get something like this to go away.

If it's not too much trouble, please send them a follow up that the original poster (me) harbors no bad feeling, has not slandered them in any way (ive been careful about wording) and is not connected to or promoting the idea of 'downhill rep.'

I would appreciate it please.

I appreciate your position, however it would seem to me the best approach would be for you to contact them directly stating your support. If they don't want to hear it from you - they definitely don't want to hear from me.

Also, if they are truly concerned about their reputation, I assume they follow this thread closely.:D And if they bothered to read the thread, they would certainly see your position.

My comments to them were regarding the overall tone of the entire thread - not the position of some individual. It's 50 pages long.

Regardless, best of luck with your order and I hope this works out well for you.

The concerns have been relayed to them numerous times. "Unaware" can mean "blithely ignoring". I wish that I did not think that were the case.
Martin is a good guy. Joe is a good guy. They build great instruments.
The way in which they are blowing off @Rumblefisher (and blew off the others in this thread for years before finally completing those instruments) is pretty reprehensible.
The fact that you got a quick reply and he does not is ... instructive.

this right here.

does it seem credible that a business which has kept many deposit-paying customers waiting for *years* beyond the stated delivery date, is “unaware” that reputation damage is in progress?
Nope.

The “ISP problems” excuse is very moldy and makes no sense in today’s world when everyone has a smartphone and home internet

and as you say, the communication patterns speak for themselves

I love Zon instruments and genuinely was hoping that they’d turn the ship around, but these recent reports make me feel very pessimistic and downhearted

All I want to add at this point is: If I knew none of this, was researching ordering a ZON and looking online for info, so as to be an informed customer, I would be be very glad that I stumbled onto this thread before I made any decisions.

The fact that some people are receiving communications from them and some aren't is bizarre.

It's certainly bizarre that the holiday "thank you for your order" e-mail wasn't sent out to everyone waiting for an order.

I first wondered whether Zon kept a naughty-or-nice list, but then realized that it's no doubt just another symptom of their poor communication skills.

Yes, I don't think it's a naughty list, but more a hit-and-miss communication issue.

Was hoping everyone who is waiting got the same email.
:sorry:

I think I'm starting to run out of patience. It's coming up on two years for what was quoted as a two-month job for what is, admittedly, an involved repair, but I'm just not getting responses when I reach out for updates, and I've been hearing the same replies that many others have been hearing (when I get any response at all).

I'd really love to send in a few other instruments for repairs/upgrades, but at this point it seems foolish to even contemplate.

They are capable of building some of the very best instruments on the planet IMO, and I'm very torn between wanting to support them however I can, and just wanting my bass back so that I can be done with them.

:(

Two years for a repair job? Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that. What kind of repair? Might be time to get it back and have someone else do it. I wish you luck.
