Zon basses - is everything OK ?

Just showed up here and seeing this Zon thread I wanted to post some Zon Love (that said, I'm not reading the entire thread). I hope the OP received his VB4 and loves it as much as I loveView attachment 7087099 my VB5. It's a set-neck, swamp ash body, natural matte finish. I received mine direct from the Zon shop in 2006 and this one will never be sold (by me anyway--all bets are off if I croak and my wife sells it!).

I really do love this bass! It is so light and yet sounds huge! Mine has a ramp between two the Bartolini pickups and has mostly worn flats all it's life (I love flat wound strings: mostly TI's but recently had my tech install a set of LaBella Low Tension Flats, and they're verry niiice!).

Communication with Zon was good. They are hard to get in touch with but I usually got them by calling the shop. I recall ordering the bass in the fall of '05 with an expected delivery by Christmas of that year. Delivery wasn't until March of '06 however because Joe wanted to install a truss rod in the neck. I no longer recall the details as to why other than something occurred with another customer's bass that led him to believe it would benefit from a truss rod. It has never needed an adjustment tho'.

Just a fantastic bass IMO!

Much love for Zon!
Yeah, this isn't the praise thread; that's on the 4th floor. 2nd floor (this thread) is the complaint department.

I'm about to retain a California attorney to pursue the matter of my withheld instrument.

At this point, I don't harbor any expectations to ever see my instrument (sent in for repair over 3.5 years ago) again, so I'm unconcerned with any prospect of retaliatory measures.

Beyond the issue of possesion of the instrument itself, however, is the regularity of their delay-and-deceive tactics, clearly and demonstrably grounded in bad faith. For myself and for multiple other parties in this thread, the issue is so far past the point of "we're having a problem with paint/hardware/etc." as to be indefensible by any reasonable good-faith argument.

Unfortunately, it seems that we're at/past the point where it's necessary to see what California law says about such deliberate and consistent delay tactics.

FWIW, I was patient. I waited. I publicly rooted for these guys to turn things around. I didn't say anything negative until *years* past their quoted 2-month turnaround time.

It's time.
And this is precisely why I'm nervous to order another Zon and honestly it's killing me cause every time I see new picture's on the Zon Facebook page of new Legacy basses I just want another Legacy VI so bad but when I read this thread it just gets me back to reality.
I feel so bad for you 31HZ, this shouldn't be happening and it's not acceptable I really hope Zon gets there $#!+ together!!!!

I hope that gets their attention! Just to clarify, did you already ask them to return it without repairs?

And the Customer Service Department is on the 13th floor, unfortunately this building goes from the 12th floor to the 14th.
The college dorm I lived in at U of Cinci was like that. Fortunately, I was on the top floor (25th). The view north was fantastic; one time I looked out the window and there was a Goodyear blimp facing right at me at eye level!

It's nuts that they'll even entertain new orders at this point. I love my Zon but everytime I check this thread I lose more respect for the ownership of the company.
I have been wondering if there are ‘NBD’ threads in the Zon Club by people getting new Zons, not used, I almost think it’s gotten personal between Joe and the original posters on this thread, that as long as this thread exists their basses will always be on the back burner regardless of what he says, he may be out to get some, in his mind, a certain amount of revenge.

Great bass, terrible business acumen.

Thankfully there are lots of other great instruments out there, but so sad that after trying so hard to make a product people would but they've apparently decided they don't care about their customer base.

If that's the case it makes it even worse, IMO. Whenever anyone asks me about buying a Zon (new or used) I relay my personal experience and point them to this thread.
