Zoom b3 patch Ideas

My patches are all over the place in this regard.
I use it as a final blend adjustment when I arrive at rehearsal and try out a new patch.
At home the blend might sound great, but in a band situation it needs tweaking more often than not.

Ill stick with 100 for now and make adjustments to the individual FX, see how that goes.

Tell me about it. I'll get something that sounds killer at home, but is totally wacked when I get into the studio.
I've been trying to makeshift a volume pedal into an expression pedal, but I think I'm going to finally give in and get a real one.

what settings do you use to get an iron maiden sound with the Zoom B3?
In this video ( ) the bassists uses a Zoom B2. I like the sound but cant get it quite close with the Zoom B3.

It sounds to me that the bass player on the clip might be using a compressor. give this patch a try.

I wonder if anyone can help...looking for a patch idea to produce a cello sound...searched the thread and found one ref...but not much info....I've been asked to play in a string group..(don't ask ok...lol)...and thought a delayed attack with some harmonics might get close....any B3 gurus have any suggestions...would very much be appreciated......

So i tried a bit and got now a nice bass sound.
Not exactly like maiden but i think it's a nice tone for aggressive fingerplaying:
160 Comp: THRSH 0; Ratio 10; Gain 4; Knee Soft; Level 76
Graphic EQ: 50Hz 0; 120Hz 3; 400Hz 3; 500Hz 1; 800Hz 0; 4,5Khz 1; 10 Khz 0; Level 100
SVT: Bass 0; Mid -4; Trebl 3; Mid_F 200Hz; Gain 37; Level 38; Ultra Hi; Cab 4x12 SB, Mix 50
I recorded a hardcore classic by the band black flag. so you can listen to the sound here:

Could someone tell me how many patches I can store in the B3? It came with factory patches A0 - J9. I'd like to keep all of those for ideas, but add my own patches in the K0 - ?? banks? Is this possible? It doesn't give me the option to store past patch J9.

100 patches, it says it right there on Page 3 of your Operating (Owners) Manual.
Download Invalid Link Removed.
You can then back up any or all of your patches onto your computer, then create more on the B3, then repeat.

I have my B3 full of patches as well as about 30 or more different ones stored on my PC that I pick/choose/swap as I like using Edit & Share.
On top of that, there's over 100 patches in the Zoom B3 Patch Library that you can download into Edit & Share to try out.

I have the same question, not the answer. I don't have a B3 either although I am interested in one or the MS-60B. I've heard people suggest that an attack delay can help to create a stringed instrument sound. I do currently have a Pandora Mini that is a nice little toy but perhaps not a good gigging effects box. An attack delay by itself isn't going to create a cello sound unless the B3 attack delay is vastly superior at that compared to the Pandora. Other people say that bowed stringed instruments have a sawtooth raspiness to them so I have tried adding in a sawtooth synth sound on the Pandora and yeah that begins to sound cello-esque. Kinda', sorta'. In a vague way. That is as far as I have gotten, perhaps my wrong answer will prompt someone with a better answer to speak up?
I actually tune my basses like cellos and if you are game for the challenge of learning a new tuning that might be helpful if you are going to play with strings. If you do that they will likely try to get you to tune in perfect fifths but I am not sure that is such a good idea on a fretted bass. It would be an excellent idea on a fretless if you plan to tune in fifths and play with a string ensemble. But merely being tuned in fifths will give you a certain synchronicity with the strings and the part you are playing my finger more naturally if it is a string part.

Exactly, sawtooth is key. Since I have an e-cello Invalid Link Removed I have little need to fake it, but I know for sure that sawtooth is the wave form of all stringed instruments. Secondly you need to get rid of the attack at the begin of each tone you make when you pluck your bass. Try "SlowATTCK" to this end. Thirdly use "Defret" to get closer to the cello sound, since this is of course a fretless instrument. As I said, I have not tried this out, but from all what I know about cello sounds, this appears to me to be the avenue to go.
Thanks Ken and Andreas......this cello thing might become a little project....thanks for your advice....I'll get experimenting the weekend....if anything works out ill post it in here....
Along that line, I'd love to be able to recreate the claypool patch from the b2 on the b3. I know the b2 is using a tube screamer into a filter, but the filters sound different to my ears (between the b2 and b3)
