Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Just tried CRYSTALMAN85'S patch idea above on the Zoom MS-60B with a few modifications playing on a P bass & it was very useable. My mods were on the BassDrive: Bass 1, treble 2, presence -3, level 40 for unity gain, & I lowered the level output of the 10 band eq to 88 for unity. You could ad more gain depending on which Geddy like tone/era you are going for, "Moving Pictures" would definitely call for more dirt.

I did name that patch geddy bass drive because I knew that geddy lee uses a tech 21 rmp rackmount in his later career. I also added the graphic eq model to boost mids. it's cool that you've done some adjustments. of course that's the point of this thread other than posting nifty patch ideas. it also allows talkbass members to use these patches and if they want to, they can make some adjustments of the patch ideas to their liking. I'm glad that this patch was very helpful to you. this patch was the least I can do to duplicate a geddy lee sound. and considering that you play a p-bass, you would definitely nail his sound with this patch.

Avvie's Megatron Talking Bass Patch

I just made a patch to semi-dupe the talking bass heard after 2:27 here:

http://youtu.be/IUGzY-ihqWc

1-Std Syn

Sens 25 Sound 2 Tone 4
Synth 94 Dry 2 Level 100

2- Pedal Wah

Freq CONTROLLED BY EXP PED OR HOTHAND 3
DryMx 9 Level 100

3- Bitcrusher

Bit 8 SMPL 22 BAL 82
Tone 4 Level 100

The ability to do this along with some other synth ideas was the reason for buying this unit. I almost put both this and my HH3 up for sale until I really bore down on programming it.

Apologies to anyone who's already submitted a similar patch.

I wonder if anybody has had luck recreating the tight overdrive sound of Billy Sheehan. Here's an example of what I mean:
https://soundcloud.com/#premierguitar/ebs-billy-sheehan-signature

I like this tone because it's crunchy, but still clear in the mix. Many of the overdrive/distortion/fuzz presets on the B3 sound ok alone, but they are too wide and fuzzed out to punch through with a full band.

I know Billy Sheehan's live rig consists of 2 separate amps (clean and overdrive) blended together, but if his EBS pedal can get close, maybe the B3 can get close too.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you bypass this if you need to? I have an active BC Rich and a Thunderbird for a specific project I would just like to Bypass on tunes where I use the BC rich.

This probably belongs on the general B3 thread instead of the patch ideas thread, but the answer is yes. Each of the three effects banks on the B3 has its own switch, so if you turn them all off it's the same as having them bypassed.

+1 I'd be interested if anyone has found a tone close to his as well. Thanks.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch is inspired by a sound sample I heard from the rocktron website. this patch is a bass overdrive with a lush chorus.

Rocktron bass overdrive

Section 1: T-scream: gain: 45, tone: 50, level: 90, balance: 30

Section 2: chorus: depth: 57, rate: 18, mix: 50, locut: 200hz, level: 100, predelay: on

Section 3: acoustic: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 95, bright: off, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Can anybody make a patch that will make me sound like Peter Baltes or DD Verni?

I would believe that you could get peter baltes's sound by using an ampeg svt model with a hartke 4x10 cab model with a bottom boost model for more low-end presence.

Accept bass

Section 1: znr: thresh: 19, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: bottom b: bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 80

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 5, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz gain: 45, level: 58, ultra: both, cab: ha4x10, level: 50

Also if you play a p/j bass, you can easily nail his sound. give this patch a try and see how it works out for you.

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch is a marshall super bass sound with a sansamp driver model resulting in creating a warm beefy bass sound. a great patch for rock and metal music.

Marshall beef

Section 1: znr: thresh: 19, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: bassdrive: bass: 4, treble: 3, presence: 2, gain: 57, blend: 70, level: 90, mid: 7

Section 3: superb: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 2, midfq: 350hz, gain: 45, level: 90, presence: 2, swr4x10, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a blended distortion sound with smooth lows and punchy highs.

Cool bass distortion

Section 1: any effect you want

Section 2: overdrive: gain: 70, tone: 25, level: 90, balance: 18

Section 3: d.i plus: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, gain: 25, blend: 50, level: 100, color: on, channel: clean

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch has a warm vintage distortion sound that resembles a distorted acoustic bass amp.

Warm distortion

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 23, ratio: 5, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: bass bb: gain: 17, bass: 4, treble: -3, blend: 40, level: 75

Section 3: acoustic: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, midfq: 400hz, gain: 45, level: 90, bright: off, cab: ac1x18, mix: 50

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted PATCH ideas on hear. I received my B3 on Friday afternoon. Didn't hardly sleep pat night, and as for today, my fingers are cramping up like heck. I haven't stopped playing with this thing for the past 2 days. Been scrolling through and writing down and categorizing all these different patches. So, just wanted to say thanks to those who have put stuff out there, and to those contemplating getting this amazing machine........... just get it. This thing is a masterpiece of work, with realistic sounds and easy to use features.
