Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Hey guys, I'm looking for a few patches. I don't actually own the pedal yet, but I'm saving. In the meantime I'd like to know what to dial in when I get it. Anyway, I'm looking at that Meshuggah Chaosphere tone. I'm thinking that the chain would sound nice like this: Noisegate set so that it eliminates hum but can also handle quick stops and starts well, Comp+Dist patched to be pretty compressed with a mild OD over it from the dist side, into the GK simulator with bass cut, treble mildly cut, and mids all the way up. Do you think that will sound ok?

If you want that messhugah sound, the metal zone model through and ampeg svt model at a bright setting can easily give you that sound. try out my bright distortion patch and see if it works out for you.

Bright distortion

Section 1: znr: thresh: 20, detect: efxln, level: 90

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 17, tone: 50, level: 125, balance: 25

Section 3: svt: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 5, gain: 45, level: 57, ultra: both, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Hey guys I just joined a disco band and I could use a synth sound for a couple of tunes and was hoping someone could help as I really suck with effects.
First is Let's Groove Earth Wind and Fire

and Invalid Link Removed by the Dazz Band.

Also need someone to teach my to slap for Let it whip (just kidding LOL). I'm joining a disco band and I can't slap to save my live. Luckily in most of the songs there isn't much slap but I am going to have to start learning.

Thanks !

any help on how to dial in a Gnarly geddy lee tone to epic proportions?
I can get pretty close with a sansamp BDDI sim but what settings and compressor should i put along to it? i will still have a third slot empty so is there something i should add to make it sound sick, cut through a dense mix and still keep a decent bottom end!
Having the ability to mix my clean bass sound (geddy lee bass!!) and the blend on the sansamp along with the right pair of other pedal sims should get me prettyy darn close i figure!
if you have tried this with a jazz bass your ideas would be much appreciated! thank you!

and yes bridge pickup only with audere jz3 on zing mode is an awesome start but right now am playing through a sweet ampeg ba112 combo but at gigs i have to often use the DI on the B3 alone (no amp or mic'ing available to amp situation)

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch is similar to the grind patch idea, only it's with a low gained boss metal zone model and a noise gate resulting in creating a killer bass sound with reduced noise.

Grind 2

Section 1: znr: thresh: 18, detect: efxln, level: 100

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 10, tone: 50, level: 100, balance: 18

Section 3: bassdrive: bass: 3, treble: 2, presence: 0, gain: 57, blend: 70, level: 90, mid: 5

Have you tried the pre set patch E5
" Earth W&F"

I think it pretty close, perhaps a little tweaking to get it more to your liking.

Give this patch a try.

Geddy bass drive

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: grtln, level: 100

Section 2: graphic eq: 50hz: -1, 120hz: 2, 400hz: 4, 500hz: 5, 800hz: 3, 10: -1, level: 100

Section 3: bassdrive: bass: 3, treble: 4, presence: 2, gain: 55, blend: 70, level: 100, mid: 8

Just tried CRYSTALMAN85'S patch idea above on the Zoom MS-60B with a few modifications playing on a P bass & it was very useable. My mods were on the BassDrive: Bass 1, treble 2, presence -3, level 40 for unity gain, & I lowered the level output of the 10 band eq to 88 for unity. You could ad more gain depending on which Geddy like tone/era you are going for, "Moving Pictures" would definitely call for more dirt.

Crystalman, should these patches be used with a bass amp? Or use a DI and direct to the PA?

I don't think it really matters if you hook up the zoom b3 on a bass amp, or if you hook it up into a direct box or into a pa system. rather if it's for recording or live performances, the only thing that really matters is if you dig the sounds of these patches regardless of where you hook up the zoom b3. I use it for both recording and live performances. for recording, I usually hook up my zoom b3 directly into my tascam mixing board for whenever I record music with my bands. I also do this when I record sound samples of multi-effects processors that I previously owned in the past and post them on soundclick. for live performances, I simply hook up my zoom b3 into my gallien-krueger bass amp. it always sounds pretty cool to me either way. I don't there's really a wrong way to use these patches depending on where you hook up the zoom b3. the only thing that matters most is if you dig the sounds of the patches you created on your zoom b3. and I would say the same thing to the zoom ms-60b.

Depending on how influential your cab is in the tone (some are more transparent than others), will determine how much overall cab mix is left in the patch ... The b3 is quite flexible in this regard, as well as allowing a blend of the overall patch vs clean sound...
Good stuff really ... It's a crazy good box

My take on a geddy lee sound

1. D.I.+ = bass 6, mid -1, treb -1, gain 70, blend 56, level 60

2. Chorus = depth 40, rate 21, mix 39, locut 120Hz, level 100, preD off

3. free slot

I like the DI+ distortion better than the dedicated distort effects on the zoom b3, just preference i guess

That's true. some of the effects on the zoom b3 do sound more transparent than other effects. also it doesn't color your sound like the line 6 bass pods. I do like the line 6 stuff, it's just that I think the bass pods and the other pods in my opinion are more suitable for recording. other than that, the zoom b3 works well with bass amps, mixing boards, direct recording gear, and pa systems.
