Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Here's a new patch I came up with. this patch is similar to the turbografx bass patch, only with a stereo chorus to add more color and dimension.

Turbografx bass 2

Section 1: bitcrusher: bit: 14, smpl: 40, balance: 25, tone: 5, level: 100

Section 2: Stereo chorus: depth: 75, rate: 25, mix: 45, locut: 200hz, level: 90

Section 3: monotone: bass: 3, mid: -2, treble: 5, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 90, char: flat, cab: al4x10, mix: 50

Last week I joined this Forum for the first time and pretty much replaced all of my B3 presets with the patches found on this thread. It has become a MUCH more useful tool to me now (the Rickenbacker Recording patch was ridiculous with my Thunderbird!).
A major shout out to all of the patch contributors (especially, but not limited to, Crystalman and OzzyGreg), you guys are amazing and your patches make the B3 so much more useful versus the OEM presets. Thanks!

On a similar note, I've been trying to get Flea's sound on the Chili Peppers' version of Higher Ground, but am having some difficulty. I've tried editing some of the patches in this thread, but I can't seem to nail that tone (using my T-Bird, but could also use my active MTD, but it's a 5-string and for Higher Ground, I'm more comfortable on the more narrow T-Bird neck, the curse of smaller hands!). Any ideas would be much appreciated. Running through an Eden (it's not mine, so I don't have the model on hand) with 2-1x15's. Thanks!

.
90 different B3 patches available here for download!

I've uploaded a few of my latest ones.
NB: The "recording" focused patches will probably sound boomey. They're supposed to be that way. I usually record over two tracks at once, with one of the tracks being the bass's dry signal.
I then blend them together in the mix. The dry signal gives the clarity, the wet the "oomph".

Compressor, EQ, then into the SVT sim.

Marcus Miller signature Jazz recording patch.

Fairly happy with this one now.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club bass fuzz.
This one's tough because I don't have a semi-acoustic bass to use to try and nail the sound.
Hey OzzyGreg, I mentioned it later in this thread, but the Rick recording patch is INCREDIBLE! Love the sound that it brings my T-bird through and Eden with 2 15's. Thanks for the great contribution!

Glad this thread helped you out. we do our best coming up with a lot of nifty patches for those owning a zoom b3. if you have some patch ideas of your own, feel free to share them here.

I'm looking for a patch that would give me a tone that sounds like Havok

Example:

This sound definitely came from a p-bass. or in the video, a pj bass. however, you can get this sound from either the ampeg svt model or the aguilar amp model along with an exciter effect to give it that extra punch. give one of these patches a try.

Thrash metal bass

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 5, level: 80

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 5, treble: 4, midfq: 300hz, gain: 35, level: 35, ultra: both, cab: e4x10, mix: 50

Thrash metal bass 2

section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 90

Section 2: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 5, level: 80

Section 3: ag amp: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 5, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 80, char: both, cab: e4x10, mix: 50

I haven't got a zoom b3 yet but I really want one. I was wondering if there was a patch that made the bass sound like an orchestra or some crazy stuff like that.

I'm not quite sure if there is an effect that can make like an orchestra sound or perhaps an orchestra hit sounds like you would hear on yamaha keyboards. but you could try experimenting with a pitch shifter effect or a z organ effect.

You can get really orchestral sounds with the B3. You need an expression pedal. I use a Boss PS-6 for pitch shifting but you could easily use one of the shifters in the Zoom. When I do this I go Fuzz(usually IdiotBox Blasteroid)>PS-6>(B3)HD Reverb - tone cranked decay anywhere between 25 and 50(higher the bigger) but if I were to use the Zoom I think I would use what ever fuzz you have(use one in the B3 if you want - I don't like the dirt in the B3)>pitch shift model - set to an octave up (+12cents I think)>HD Reverb. Set to the expression pedal to control the mix on the reverb and do swells. You can sweep the expression pedal in a way that sounds like bowing/an orchestra. If you don't have to use a slot for dirt you could put a multi-tap or other delay in there before the reverb and it gets pretty crazy.

Any idea on how to get Jack Gibson's tone ? Its a killer drool Thanks for the patch ideas. Really usefull stuff :)

I've looked up his rig through google images. and it looks like he uses ampeg amps just like any thrash metal bassist would use. this patch should be able to get you that sound he has. give it a shot and see if it works out for you.

Thrash metal bass

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 5, level: 80

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 5, treble: 4, midfq: 300hz, gain: 35, level: 35, ultra: both, cab: e4x10, mix: 50

Hey everyone. I am new to the site. I have had a zoom B3 for about a year and found this thread. I would like to add my own patches I have created. Please let me know if you like them and feel free to add improvements. I use an Ibanez SR505 and an Acoustic B200 amp.

1. HORN: This is a horn type sound similar to a saxophone, it uses MonoPitch and the Hartke amp, with the HPS as an add on that you can switch on or off. The HPS makes it sound like multiple horns, when off it sounds like one.

Thanks, I have. I really enjoy a lot of them. The distortion ones especially.

thank you very much. I do all I can to post nifty patch ideas. and it's not just distortion patches. I also came up with some clean patches here and there. but distortion patches would be my specialty on this thread. so feel free to post more patch ideas here if you came up with more.

Crystalman 85, Im looking for a patch that has a slight SVT-type overdrive and/or a smidge of speaker breakup without coloring too much...You got anything like that?

Well, the one thing I can think of is an svt amp model with a light overdrive courtesy of the tube screamer model. and perhaps an m comp model to add more natural compression. give this patch a try and see if it works out for you. this patch has a vintage rock type sound with a slight warm drive added with some natural compression.

Vintage rock

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates the metallic distortion sounds of the darkglass b3k and the b7k bass distortion pedals. a great patch for metal bassists who wants to add more edge.
