Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch is a warm heavy distortion sound loosely based on the darkglass vintage deluxe.

Vintage metaltube

section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5. level: 100, attack: 7

Section 2: squeak: gain: 30, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 80, deep: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Hi Crystalman, thanks for these patches. I have tried your Darkglass patches and I wanted to know what do you think is a substitute to the squeak on MS60, I am getting a good sound from the muff. I remove Section 1 since I am using a spectracomp.

I don't own a zoom ms-60b, but I have noticed that the effects are limited compared to the zoom b3. if anything, try using the samsamp bass driver model with the boss metalzone or odb-3 model at a low gain setting. not quite sure if that would be close, but it can give you a killer grind. give that a shot and see if it works out for you.

Hello everybody,
first of all thank you Crystalman85 for all the patches. Great work.
I am looking to have the same bass sound on Another one bites the Dust from Queen.

Thanks.
John Deacon always ran his basses direct into a mixing board in the studio. That being said ABTD was played on a Stingray so pretty much all you'd have to do is bump up the low mids on either the parametric or Boss-style graphic EQ and us some compression.

Hi everyone!

Recently, I bought a Zoom B3. Amazing!!!
As many bassmen, I wanna to discover my Bass Heroes' tone.

Cliff Burton, guys! That's my objective! Do you have any idea or suggestion about his tone with (and without) wah effect?

All the best!!

Hi guys!

Could you give me your impression about this test?
160 COMP: -15 / 5.5 / 10 / Soft / 100
FUZZSMILE: 20 / 75 / 70 / 100
ZTRON: 5 / 4 / 0 / 48

All the best!

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch has a mid-focus metal distortion sound that resembles that of swedish death metal. useful for bass solos and drum and bass type bands(meaning a band with a drummer and a bassist).

Swedish metal bass

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, decect: efxln, level: 100

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 50, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: DI5: gain: 70, tone: 3, level: 100, hicut: on

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a warm grinding distortion sound with tight compression.

Titan rock bass 2

Section 1: d comp: sense: 4, tone: 7, level: 100, attack: fast

Section 2: d.i plus: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 0, gain: 40, blend: 25, level: 90, color: on, chan: dist

Section 3: super b: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 5, midfq:300hz, gain: 30, level: 100, presence: 7, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates peter hook's bass chorus sound. a great chorus patch for 80s music fans.

Section 2: chorus: depth: 50, rate: 25, mix: 80, locut: 200hz, level: 100, pred: on

Section 3: bass pre: bass: 4, treble: 2, level: 80, mid: 5, midfq: 400hz

I once thought of this patch and it sounds pretty close to his sound from the master of puppets album.

Section 1: M comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: Bass bb: gain: 10, bass: 3, treble: -2, blend: 25, level; 75

Section 3: Acoustic: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 3, midfq: 400hz, gain: 45, level: 85, bright: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Give this patch a try and see if it works out for you.

Tks a lot Crystal!

I'll test your suggestion and a variation of that.

I'll use a GNI / NIG compressor pedal and will substitute M Comp to some B3's Filter. I hope to get close Burton's tone with (and without) wah effect.

All the best and keep grooving

Here's a new patch I came up with. this patch is a preamp patch suitable for those who has a low-output bass and for those who wants to make their passive bass sound active.

Active preamp

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: booster: gain: 30, bass: 3, treble: 2, level: 59

Section 3: bass pre: Bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 80, mid: 4, midfq: 250hz

Here's another patch I came up with. this patch has a smooth clean preamp sound with a lush chorus effect and natural compression.

Cool bass chorus

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 17, ratio: 4, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: chorus: depth: 50, rate: 25, mix: 40, locut: 200hz, level: 100, pred: on

Section 3: d.i plus: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 3, gain: 70, blend: 80, level: 90, color: on, chan: clean

Here's another patch I came up with. this patch has a blended metallic distortion sound with an almost tube-like punch.

Cool metal bass

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 4, level: 90, attack: 7

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 25, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: d.i plus: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 3, gain: 70, blend: 80, level: 90, color: on, chan: clean
