Zoom MS-60B+ (a compact B2-Four?)

it's still on my short list.

we chatted about the Cabzone - they are back in stock through Shiftline.

at this point, it's either the Opus or Cabzone.

or just my trusty old J48.
I have a JHS Punchline on the way, but I’m keeping the CabZone! Too versatile, and makes an amazing headphone amp. Each combination of cabs and power amps sound different, so you have 100 different options on the pedal, just by clicking through the dials. Or they can be tuned off. And they all sound good.

i'm sure it would work like a champ.

then there's the new Sonicake (i know) Matribox II Pro with 5 bass amps and 20 IR slots AND XLR Balanced out.

why not all THREE?

Opus
CabZone
Matricbox II Pro

After months of sitting on the fence, hanging around in the thread and bothering you all with questions, I finally ordered an MS-60B+ last night.

I don't need it.
It doesn't add any substantive capability that I don't already have as a bassist.
I'm trying to avoid Apple-only products.

But I bought one anyway because it's kind of cool and I want a new toy.

*sigh* The GAS got me.

Congrats.

I've been through my share of bass products.

The MS-60B+ is holding steady.

I just plugged in my Ibanez EHB-1505, with preamp.

Sounds fantastic through the 60B+.

Let us know what you think.

More than 15 years without owning or using a multifx unit, I just got this thing, so far I'm very pleased with what I'm hearing. I don't see how this thing cannot do a great compressor and overdrive for my main tone, plus an octave and phaser here and there on my secondary board, but really I think the sky is the limit with this small thing, yeah, not the most practical for changing patches, but impressed so far... I will dig in on the next days.

Got mine yesterday and I tried it at night at home just going through the factory patches.
This is very good for the size and what it offers. The effects are really nice and although I have a Stomp I see myself using this a lot in some gigs.
Great form factor, good effects, easy to use. I know that it's not that easy to navigate through effects and patches but it really offers a lot for the price.
So far, I'm really impressed by it.

Unpacked my MS-60B+ today.

Discovered I need some kind of special Apple Lightning to USB C adapter to be able to use the Handy Guitar Lab software. (/heavy sigh Will my Apple nightmare never end? :))

Does anyone know: if I put rechargeable batteries in my MS-60B+, will it recharge the batteries when I plug it into either a 9V power source or the USB C input? It'd be very handy if it did... one less set of batteries needed per performance.

Thanks for any advice.

...and my Apple nightmare continues...

I went out today and bought a Lightning-to-USB C cable to connect my iPad to my MS-60B+. I installed the Zoom Handy Guitar Lab for MS-60B+ ($2, kerching). But with the app running, and the cable connected, "no device was detected".

Shouldn't this work...?

Not according to the documentation. I haven't actually tested it though. It's an interesting idea, even if I don't need the extra power. 6 hours will last me well beyond an evening of playing and I've never ran out during a gig/rehearsal yet.

You need one that transmits data as well as power. Are you sure your cable can send data?
1 sure way to test it, is to hook up the USB-C connector to your pc and see if you can use Itunes to transfer a file to the ipad, create a backup or something like that.

Maybe I didn't buy a data transmission cable  Good idea about seeing whether it works with a laptop or PC with a USB socket. I think my son's laptop may have a USB socket. I'll try it.

The manual talks about using an "Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter". That's US$43 where I live! Do I really I need to fork over even more money to the Applopoly to buy yet another proprietary dongle?!

I think they expect people to not have those older tablets anymore as most are not supported by Apple anymore. And every recent Ipad already comes with a USB-C connection and charging cable, which also transmits data.

If you happen to already have the old 'camera kit', which is Lighting to USB-A and transmits data, you can make do with any data-sending usb-A>C cable. Be it from Amazon or any other store.
Otherwise, you'll have to see what's cheaper: Either the camera kit with any USB-A >C cable that can send data or the Apple lightning to USB-C extension. As the camera kit is ancient tech by now it might be cheaper to take that route.

That said, while it's useful to have it attached to an ipad or iphone because of the faster interface, there's nothing you can't do without the app, except for having a patch pool to store presets you don't want or can't have on your device. But you can do that even in a windows text file and write down your settings.

Question for you users, if you select an effect/preamp to adjust parameters does the screen stay up indefinitely? Or just it close after an amount of time? I'm wondering if you could keep an effect/preamp open so that the knobs on the unit could be used to adjust eq on the fly. It would be neat if you could program the knobs to be a global eq of sorts...

Yes. It dims and changes to it's default icon, but the buttons stay active on the last effect you have selected. Hitting the stomp switch on a selected effect turns it off entirely. One thing to note: as the pedal operates right to left, you may need to step on the effect switch a few times to get to the right effect.

No global EQ though. You'd have to add an EQ/amp to each patch for those. Or use the app and create a default preset in your patch pool to copy to every new patch you make and then work from there (or just write down your default settings). They saved global EQ's for the more expensive units.

So to clarify, if I select a preamp with eq parameters and leave it open, it will eventually visually change to the preamp logo but the knobs will still adjust the frequencies of that preamp?
Exactly that.
Something to keep in mind: Unless you save the settings (or have autosave enabled) it will return to the original settings after switching patches.
