Zoom MS-60B+ (a compact B2-Four?)

When I'm sound designing I have different groups some with speaker sim on for going direct or iem and some speaker sim off when using an amp. I also have different groupings for different situations cuz I play in different situations.

That reminds me - although I've not utilized it yet, I keep forgetting the MS60B+ can send both cab sim effected and non-cab sim signals simultaneously from the L & R outputs. This is perfect for those who want to send cab sim to FOH and no cab sim to their stage amp. Could be useful for recording purposes too?

Yes the B15 FlipTop was something I used all the time from a general tube-based preamp to be used in context of an amp sim with its cab balanced in, and as a part of building drive sounds.
I was happy that the Monotone aka Polytone Mini Brute III was included as that is one amp I have used for hundreds of gigs and love the punchy warm tone. Fortunate to own one after searching a good bit and it just appeared one day at Musical Exchange and bought it immediately.

Ive stopped making sure my cabs are zero’d when going to amp, which is most of the time. When I started with this pedal I gravitated to the b15, but now leaning toward bassman for Beatlesy stuff, and svt for modern, though I like many of the other amps too. I also stack w the 80+ and run bass/gu*tar amps in parallel. Engineer loved my tone playing my cat bass through the Hiwatt sim with a pick. I also use the IR’s alot.

I remember those Polytone as well as the Roland Bass Cubes and Gk MB150 were the “IT” amps for all my upright jazz buddies back n da day👍😊

what annoys me is that the cabs are "glued" to the amp models. I'm using the following effects chain for my groove metal band:

Chorus - Dual Comp - Noise Gate - Rat - Sansamp

The sound is good as is thru my tc bam in flat EQ, so if I want to send it to FOH as is, I'd like a cab on it WITHOUT an amp-sim.

So I just ordered a separate IR loader to replace my DI box.

pedalboard as is:

Its funny, shouldn't the sansamp sim have a can sim option?
The sansamp doesn't have an amp included.

The ampeg sim does:

If you can get them to sound similar without the cab- which should be possible considering 1 is a sim of the other- you can just put the one you have on 1 channel to your amp and the channel without the amp sim it to FoH and there may be no need for a new DI. Or just clone the ampeg settings to both channels and turn off the cab sim. You may need to adjust some settings to compensate for the amp sim, but that would be all.

If you want to load a cab sim the 60B doesn't have, then yes, you need a new DI/IR loader. Otherwise, it may just sound fine in this setup.

I use both outputs, one goes to my amp and cab, the other goes to FOH. so I'd either have to use the most neutral amp i can find in the MS60B+ with cab and get that after the first output, or use the svt without cab, which does not solve my problem.

I use flat/non-character amps to make my signal loud (TC BAM in flat eq 10am/3pm/10am or harley benton bass block 800), so I do not want to have the character-amp-model AFTER my first output to my amp. I want more or less the same signal to go to my amp and FOH, with the only difference being one with cab/ir, the other without.

I don't get why zoom does not imply that. or at least the possibility to either de-activate amp or cab in the amp/cab blocks.

I think if you turn the cabs down to zero in the amp block, you can pretty much decouple them. Doesn’t solve your need to have the cab sim in the signal chain for one output though.

I usually think of cab sims as just a very specific eq. Can you split your output another way to separate cab simmed feed from no cab sim?

Or what about using the pre amps which don’t have cab sims and then the amp blocks that do?

that IS exactly what I do, mate. I use the sansamp sim. But I don't need an amp sim when I use the sansamp. Still no way to put a cab without an amp sim behind the sansamp in the MS60b+. So I have 2 options: use an eq block to cut the highend at the end of the chain or simply link one output to an IR or cab sim pedal.

if your goal is to get your sound without adding any extra gear, What about having a chat with the sound engineer running FOH and have him/her add that cab sim on their end?
I don't want to rely on that. also playing in small clubs etc. I've seen enough that makes me want to get them an uncomromised signal to work with haha

I'll just get an m wave or sonicake IR loader and be done with.

Self reliance is the pro move.

On the MS front, there's talk that the big brain folks are close to hacking the new MS+ line similarly to how they got all effects across the old
MS line loadable on any device. You might get your IRs available on the 60B+ at some point. . .
