Zoom MS-60B announced... at last

I suppose because everyone's goal isn't to "sound like a studio recording". There's more uses for effects pedals than that! :)

I understand. I'm not into plastic tone either. Have you tried a B3 or MS-60b?

Again I'm not saying the MS-60b I just got has the BEST tones I've ever heard, but many of the sounds are good- particularly some of the delays, reverbs and filters.

Zoom used to be a bit down the ladder, but with the latest products they a very much useful and good soundng. It just takes a while to change an image. People who trust their ears and have some self confidence can use a Zoom pedal even if others sneeze at the name before even listening ... ;)

It's also one thing to play live, and another to do a studio recording. A boutique pedal may well be a waste of money live, in terms of sound, compared to a multieffects pedal. The bragging rights is another matter ... :p

What is plastic tone?

I've had my MS-60B for a bit more than a month now. I bought it because I've never really been into effects much and watched a few videos comparing the zoom models to the original pedals. The models were close enough that I figured it would let me explore a wide variety to eventually replace it with the actual real pedals. My experience so far is that there are enough usable effects in this pedal that I won't need to get the "real" pedals any time soon.

I get what you're saying (minus the hashtags) and I really grew to loathe digital vs analog after owning a few Digitech multi units, but digital has come an amazingly long way since those little beasts were released. I used to have a cool little Zoom multi unit that was released about the time the POD's were gaining popularity and wish I could find another, because it sounded great. Some of the digital stuff released in the last few years has really shed the "plasticine" tone some describe.

That said, I think there are some things like compression, that are still best left analog. But as far as distortion and some filtering go, alot of the newer stuff is pretty impressive and natural sounding.

edit: I did some more experimenting with multi-unit effects (say, reverb + filter + octave for example) switching: by putting the "Line Selector" unit as the 1st Unit in a patch - you can use it to turn on/off all the effects units in that patch simultaneously! Just make sure Line Selector is showing on the LCD & stomp the footswitch. Just set the 'Dry' output for unity gain with your instrument and "Efx" to how loud you want the effects on to be. Works great!

I'm going to try this. I was STILL struggling with making work in my chain but maybe now I can get it to work. Well see. I just got a looper for my board so when it comes I probably won't have room for it. May just use the zoom as a stand alone when I home practicing.

Like I said in my initial post in this thread, I've been skeptical of Zoom myself, but as someone who makes a living playing bass (heck I'm not even posting anonymously here)- I think I can use this pedal.

That's where I'm from. You're starting to sound a bit 'trollish' in your posts, bassystarship99.
