Zoom MS-60B Firmware Update 2.0 (June 2017)

I beleive they don't offer any effects on stomp share that are part of the ms-100bt's included effects. So if you haven't updated the ms-100bt to version 1.3 you are missing effects that are not available on stomp share.
This youtube video explains how to update the o/s via bluetooth.

Thanks for the heads-up @warrplayer! I'll check later to see which version I'm running. I was under the impression that Stompshare automatically updates the firmware when you connect. I did see a RAT and TS pedal, but they were not the variant found in the 60b. It seems to me that although Zoom has made many of the algorithms available across the whole MS line, each pedal still retains unique effects not shared across the line. For instance, CDR may have reverbs and delays not found on the other two; 60B has bass-specific drives not found on the other two; and 100BT etc...

It's not meant to work with Android or PC. Can't you just ask a friend or family member to lend you their phone for a couple hours? I updated mine while at work. I just asked a colleague to lend me her phone. I DL'd Stompshare, and was done in about an hour.

I should give it another chance but if i sell it I can get another MS60B or a MS70CDR that may be more useful for me. I have an AdrenaLinnIII for guitar sounds.

I have a question, as MS60B have stereo out, does anyone know if it is possible to, for example, use L out for some effects and route other efects for R out ? (using them as mono!)

It should be amazing to for example, send effects to amp using L out, and for example send a cabinet simulation via R out to a PA system.

I stumbled quite by chance across this update about 2 weeks ago - it's SO worth doing! The new effects are very, very well done. Really breathed some much needed freshness into the MS60b! In fact, I stumbled across the 2.0 firmware the night before an important gig and reworked a couple of custom patches due to some of the awesome new effects. Still digging through them, but a couple of personal new favorites right off the bat are the T.C. Electronics Corona clone (Corona Chorus) and the Electro-Harmonix Small Stone phaser clone (Stone Phase). Also, some amp sim models are carried over from the B3, etc.

The upgrade process is a piece of cake - seriously, the 2.0 update should be a no-brainer. :thumbsup:

What a pity ... it should be super nice if Zoom had added a " L/R " pan for any effect ... this way we can send a signal to the amp and another with cab simulation for a PA or FOH ...

By other hand, I wish they had added the "Dark OD" darkglass simulation from b3n !

Guys, another topic, does anyone compared the Zoom ZNR / Noise gates versus Boss NS-2, or MXR Smartgate ?

My main concern is that I didn't tried them, and I add saturation and mids with my Darkglass B7K and I mainly play metal, so I'm using Zoom ZNR, but I'm not sure if it will worth it to buy a dedicated gate or the difference wil be subtle ..

One of the best I've tried - it's on par with my ISP Decimator and that's saying something. I can't imagine any standalone pedal doing a better job than the ZNR effect. If it's out there, I'm unaware of it.

Finally had a chance to go through the amp sims in the v2.0 firmware update.

I think my personal favourites at this point are the Fliptop, the Hartke and the SWR.

Clean tones:
I minimized the cab sims (blend at 0), set all the amps with the tone controls at noon, gains at 45, and then adjusted the Level controls on each for unity gain.

However, the SVT had a touch of hair on the E and B strings with the gain at 45. Since it's louder than the other amps anyway, I dropped the gain to 30. At that point, it cleaned up nicely.

Set this way, the Hartke and G-K are a little scooped, with a useful push in the upper midrange and treble. The SWR has the expected baked-in mid scoop and bite. The Marshall Super Bass is very thick, without much treble definition. The Eden is as smooth as you would expect.

The differences between the rest of the amp sims was pretty subtle. There really wasn't a lot of difference between them and the dry signal from my passive Dingwall:
- The SVT, Markbass and Fliptop are comparable to the bypass signal.
- The Bassman is rounder in the low end and more open up top.
- The Acoustic is a little darker and warmer.
- The Aguilar is close to the Acoustic, but a little smoother.
- The Monotone (Polytone copy) is a little lean and boxy.

Overdrive:
I pushed the Gain until each amp broke up, before bringing the Level back down to unity.
- The Eden, G-K, Monotone, Fliptop, SWR, Markbass, Aguilar, Acoustic and Hartke had no overdrive, even with the Gain at 100.
- The Bassman gets brighter with the Gain dimed, but doesn't reach the point of real breakup.
- The SVT hits the edge of breakup around 55 and moderate overdrive around 75, but never gets as distorted as the Marshall.
- The Marshall started breaking up at the low end above 50, and sounded like a can full of bees at 60.

Thanks for the review! It's possible that most of the "signature" color will come into play when using the EQ in each amp as none of them come from the factory setup with the EQ at noon and there might be a reason for this (I'm guessing that frequency points and Q are probably different for each). Since many of the amp models remained clean with the gain maxed out (GK in particular), I wonder if they behave any differently when pushed with a booster rather than relying on gain to get some grit. I'm going to have to try this out :) I'm currently using the Sweet Drive into an SVT as my main overdrive; not exactly the best overdrive tone I've gotten. I'm still striving to get a growly tone with most of the grit in the mids rather than the highs. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, and being able to combine an amp with a drive pedal really helps make the MS line quite versatile IMO.

On a B1On, I've been able to approach the GK "rails" sound by putting a RAT model with very low gain before the actual GK model. Don't recall the name of the effect, but it's the RAT model.
