I chain a B3 into a B2.1u...
Left channel from B3 goes straight to channel-A on A/B/A+B switch ... Right channel from B3 goes to B2.1u on channel-B of switch... It's pretty flexible this way

Playin a B2 for about 3 years now and just ordered the B9.1UT (it's on back order). Super stoked for the upgrade! If anyone has some cool or unusual settings/patches for the B9 they wana share, let me know!

Just got a B1. I am new to effects, did some research and pulled the trigger on this. It really seems well worth the $ and a great intro. into the effects world. I have had a lot of fun playing around with it, even just creating crazy sounds that will probably never be used. It is all about fun though isn't it? While here, what is the difference between bypass and mute? Thanks, I may have a few more questions.
Bypass cuts off the effects but lets your dry signal through, sadly Zoom pedals don't have the best bypass so it's best to sequence your effects with clean patches in between. .
Mute stops all signal from passing, handy for tuning and changing instruments.
Thanks Bassbrad. That makes sense. Maybe with prior effect experience I would have known the distinction between the 2. Next, it was my initial understanding that the programmable effects(for the 40 empty spots) are just the factory presets with the ability to modify them. Is this the case or can you completely make your own patches from scratch? Or both? Reading other posts I see that various combinatons of effects, and parameter changes, are being made. This is confusing me as to how this is done. I know it should not be that hard, as the whole pedal seems pretty simple, but I am having problems. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In the B1, there are 40 factory patches (the ones which are numbered straight from 01-40) which cannot be saved if you edit the settings in them. There are 40 editable patches (segmented into 4 banks - A,B,C,D - of 10 patches each). Initially, these editable patches (A0, A1, etc.) hold the copy of factory presets, but you can overwrite these.
To create a preset, go to any one of the editable patches (from A0 to D9) and adjust any of the different effects within the modules. When you're happy with your sound, press the store button twice and your settings will be stored in the current patch.

Champ is correct on making your own sounds, remember just cuz you can have 7 or effects on does not mean you have to use them all. My "most of the time" sound is everything off with just a touch of room reverb to add some air. Presets can be a good place to start but most of them are just not something most of us can use.
Absolutely. In fact, my "most of the time" sound is everything off with a bit of chorus from any one of my CE-5, Micro Flanger, or the Detune effect on the B1x, the last providing an almost reverby chorus.
What is the procedure to mix or blend the dry and affected signals? Actually, is it possible on the B1? Thanks to all for yesterday's help. As with all things, I am learning something and then realizing how much more I don't know. This site is great and really provides a lot of info.
Mix is the function of Parameter 2 in the drive section.
In many ways it's best to think of a multi effect as though they were separate effects.
Good Luck w/the "Back-Order" of the B9.1ut... Zoom's stopped making 'em a while back. And it seems NONE of the Sites (Amazon, etc...) seem to know this, until you place the Order... Initially you'll get a "It's Back-Ordered" comment... But eventually you'll get a "It's no longer going to be Stocked" comment...
Well, snap! If that is the case, at least I won't be charged. I'll look further into this. (I ordered from Samash BTW).
Update: Spoke with the sales guy for Samash and he said the B9 is still a current product. Also checked Zoom's website and they say nothing of discontinuing the B9. Anyone else care to chime in?
Guess you've already seen this, but Zzounds says it's been discontinued and it's unavailable on Musiciansfriend as well.
Yea I saw that but didn't think they were completely discontinued. Would it be best to cancel my order and check amazon or eBay for a used one? I was really looking forward to the cubase, too. This is most disconcerting.
