Wow! That's quite a statement considering Boss' reputation. I think you could very well be right, though. I sometimes feel Zoom effects are bang on the money in terms of what you want to hear. Not too far out, not too subtle, just right.

The bypass is better and its more intuitive to programme for me anyway

My only wish for the b9.1 is to be able to see the damn display outdoors!! Ah well, won't be an issue for another year now festivals are over lol

Yeah is is a drag outdoors, none of my solutions have tried. Anyone got a working solution for seeing the display outdoors?

I use a Zoom FP01 for bypass/tune and once you grok the user interface it can go pretty fast.

I love my B9.1ut. I had the B2.1u by my 12 year old "stole" it. I loved the sounds on the B2.1u but hated they way you couldn't turn off just a single effect (at least I could not figure it out). The B9.1ut was the answer. I love it, but I still have other things on my pedal board (tonebone bassbone, and aphex punchfactory, Line6 m9 and soon a Line6 G30) But the B9.1ut is what I could not do with out. It make silent practice so easy. I run the Tascam MP-BT1 in thru the line in and a good set of headphone, and I am set. I love zoom...

All the 500 series were the same price point retailing $99-119 new, I know several gtr players still using their 505 or the acoustic version. I have a the 508 Delay and it is still a pretty cool delay. I have seen some modulation pedals like the one from Behringer labeled a Multi.

How much do these jobs go for, used?

Nah thats not needed works fine on dark stages, it's the bright sunlight washes out the display.

IME, preset patches are the weak links on Zoom effects. You'll find the unit to be of far greater utility if you can figure out how to make sounds you like.

Just picked up a Zoom B2.1u yesterday I'm trying to figure out how to make a decent synth sound with it. Can anyone clue me in on what bank/patches I should try editing?

You can create and save patches in the user section and there is are Zoom cheat sheets posted for parameters and such.

I have a B1. I don't use it for bass so much anymore... I use it as an effects box for keys. It really adds a lot to my keyboard sound. It also is a great way to DI out.

I also use it for the occasional effect on bass. If I need a phaser or chorus (two effects I rarely use) or delay I will throw the B1 on the pedal board.

It also sounds great with guitar. I like to use the "Fuzz Face" amp model with some delay and flanger. Up until recently, the B1 was my "direct" box for guitar when recording.


Great bit of kit. Can't go wrong.

I play with a guy that uses a G1x on his Wurlitzer, he gets some classic and not so classic sounds. Ring Mod is totally wicked.

Nah, the sunlight still blasts it into unreadability.

can't you put half of a toilet roll over it?
like a tube going up from your display ...
you can stick a lot of black gaffer tape on it
