That's a good idea, but to view the display, you'd have to look from a directly vertical angle, I'd think.

I have a zoomb1x, and because of it, i just got rid of my ODB-3. I am still learning the thing, and REALLY wish it had an independent bypass (i do an odd shuffle trying to step on two buttons at once) but I love it. I hope to learn it well enough to get rid of my board, and just use it.
Sooo, can I have a number? :hyper:

Here is one way to do it. You can make a patch that has everything turned off. All effects, EQ, amp sims, reverb, chorus, etc... all of it. Save this patch into A0. You will then copy the effect to every even number. So your patch list would look something like-

A0: Clean
A1: Chorus Effect
A2: Clean
A3: Distortion Effect
A4: Clean
A5: Slap Effect
...and so on

The odd numbered effects are always "effect" patches, the even numbers are always "clean" patches. You only have to stomp on one button in either direction to get a clean sound. Can't mess it up. Also, if you forget in heat of the moment, you know that there are effects in only even numbers.

Yes this cuts the usable patches in half... but who uses all 40?

The clean patches are essentially a "bypass" because the Zoom isn't a true bypass box anyway.

Works for me. YMMV.

Just a word of advice, if you already have a board, think thrice before selling any effects, tastes swing back and forth. I recall getting the 506 way back when and selling of some pretty choice pedals that I was sure to never need, now some of those pedals might as well be made from unobtainium given the current market values.

I own the B1X, where I, personally, prefer using the pitch shifter in the -12 mode instead of the octaver. It could be different with the B2.1u, though.

I find myself using both sounds, Octaver in the 1st bank is more synthy sounding while the pitch shifter sound is more clean both together is wicked. I don't have any trouble with tracking but my touch is very consistent and clean a compressor setting might help especially for sustained notes.

I find the octaver in the Wah/Efx module to be a tad too light for my liking. I like to set the pitch shifter to -12 and set the expression pedal to modulation mode to adjust the mix between the original and octave lower sounds. As I said, I have a B1X, so it could be different for the other variants.

And pitch shifter/octaveer tracking on these Zoom pedals is quite amazing (esp. for the price). Some guy on the Bossarea forums was actually praising the tracking of his Zoom's octaver (or probably pitchshifter), as opposed to the Boss OC-3 :bassist:

That sounds like a great idea. I just have to learn how to edit patches *sigh* still learning.

True, and I still have my chorus, but the ODB-3 was unusable to me as it was too noisy. I had to turn the gain near off to use it and that made it sorta pointless. I gave to our guitarist, which actually sorta benefits me in a roundabout way. I think I have learned why some people don't like active basses. The drive on the zoom doesn't produce any noise so I like it.

Zooms thru, waves hi Bassteban. Gots any fave always used effects on yours?

Mine for my B9.1ut are: comp, ring mod, overdrive, eq, little bit of reverb. And most of the time little bit of the stereo chorus. Sometimes some flanger or echo/delay.

Oddly I still havent delved into the two footcontrols, Up&down and sideways. Though thats prob best place to start experimenting if I'm gonna find useful synth effect things. Lol.

I bought a Zoom BFX-708 (I know, I'm cheap) years ago for $20 to use to play bass through headphones. I was surprised at the quality of the presets. The Slap and Vibe presets sound great after you tweak them. It's kinda noisy but not bad for $20 :bassist:
