I understand ur confusion. For him, when u use metronome, it is already in the context of performance. He always address in the context of music theories so he won't state like that. As he always stated art and academia should be separate.

I don't like SwR as well. I am not good at analysis amp electronics but they have that crunchy sound with my bass. I try to adjust very very hard to reduce it every time. I will surely plug to the return.
