I'm a lot faster with my fingers but some songs just call for the pick sound. It's just about adjusting to the needs of the song.

So I'm about to receive the 500 and I'm deciding between the Bergantino HD410 and the Aguilar DB410. There's no way I could try these out anywhere... I play mostly rock music, some softer and some harder. I like more aggressive mids with some sizzles, a smooth top end, and don't like boomy lows...

Its up to you. whichever sound you like more is what you should use. and for the record, i cut my nails everyday.

24 but can only reach up to the 22nd fret. Not like I ever want to play at the 23rd or 24th fret anyway.

counting them out like "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and" helps with the eigth notes. just play everytime you say a number or "and".
