Why worry about filling up the room ? Leave that to the FOH tech. You should worry about hearing yourself on stage first. Believe me if your moving a ton of air off the stage, you'll be buried so low in the mix that nothing you do will sound good. I love my Hartke LH500 and my GK 4x10 cab...

Just bought one brand new and had the exact same problem. It was hissing and crackling all over town. Packed her up and sent it back. Hopefully the new one isn't defective and is a lot quieter.

You may have some pre 65 pups there. Pickup dating can be a mystery. The wiring looks to me like sixties vintage. The brownish cap is also early sixies I believe. The white plastic wiring was added by someone to improve the grounding so it's not original. 50 and pre 68 Pbasses had no wiring...
