If god gave you $2,500 to spend ..

I'd buy another Reimer PJ bass, made by Dave Reimer of Vancouver, BC. This one in black with a tort guard.

    Need some string suggestions!

Sorry about Rotosounds because that is what I now use and the Roto's pure nickel. not nickel wound 45-100 is my new fav string. Not twangy more mellow sounding to my ear.

    Thoughts on Roadworn Fenders

Love my RW SB Jazz. Had it for 6 months now. Great tone and the neck is a dream to play. No fret sprout and love the rolled neck edge. Bought it new. Can you believe it hung in the music store for almost 3 years ? Got a great deal. If I had to complain about anything on this bas, it would be the...

    Early HEART Dreamboat Annie Compression

Cheers for the tips. Call Steve ? I dunno. I'm a bit shy about talking to the guy who's licks I'm copping. I wouldn't turn down meeting him. I'd get star struck maybe. Seriously I'd tell him how learning to play his licks has made me a better player. I fear he may say "Heart tribute band eh ...

    Replacement Neck

I find the wider neck of a Prebass more comfortable for slapping.

    Early HEART Dreamboat Annie Compression

I play in a Heart tribute band so I'm been studying Steve Fossen's playing and techniques. He played a late 50's Prebass with a pick on flat rounds on "Dream Boat Annie", Heart's first album. I love the compressed and percussive sound he achieved when that album was recorded back in the mid...

Which Should I Go For, Traynor DB300H or DB400H?

Why worry about filling up the room ? Leave that to the FOH tech. You should worry about hearing yourself on stage first. Believe me if your moving a ton of air off the stage, you'll be buried so low in the mix that nothing you do will sound good. I love my Hartke LH500 and my GK 4x10 cab...

    Hartke LH500 Quality Control Issues???

I recently ordered a new LH500 but I sent it back because it was very noisy. A big bowl of crackling, hissing, and popping. Got the replacement today but the replacement won't even turn on. So tomorrow it's going back.:( Am I born under a bad sign or are these Chinese built Hartkes lemons ...

    Hartke LH500

Just bought one brand new and had the exact same problem. It was hissing and crackling all over town. Packed her up and sent it back. Hopefully the new one isn't defective and is a lot quieter.

Please identify vintage P Bass electronics

You may have some pre 65 pups there. Pickup dating can be a mystery. The wiring looks to me like sixties vintage. The brownish cap is also early sixies I believe. The white plastic wiring was added by someone to improve the grounding so it's not original. 50 and pre 68 Pbasses had no wiring...

What's your favorite bass string brand?

Been a Roto Swings fan for 20+ years. Must admit I installed a new set of TI Jazz flats on my 65. I was really happy with the sound and feel. Tension was very respectable. Not too tight. I may convert.
