Hmm, could it have something to do with the built in noise gate on the MXR?

I had the LMB-3 for a year and didn't like it. It seemed to suck the oomph out of my signal regardless of how it was set and the Enhance knob was pretty useless.

The Spark seems like the ticket with it's bass/treble EQ, though I couldn't find any demos of it on bass. My guitar player has one he's using as a boost, so I will have to try it out sometime. I'm also looking at the Fairfield Barbershop, have you ever compared the two? I appreciate any and all...

So there's no way keep my highs while I boost the lows?

I get the big low end boost with the tone rolled down too but lose low end drastically as the knob goes clockwise. Perhaps the original Blueberry and Bearfoot are different in this regard?

I just bought this pedal and am blown away. By far, the best bass distortion I have ever used. Capable of a transparent Tubey overdrive to a raunchy edge of chaos sound. Props to Ryan and mxr for ending my 8 year quest for a dirt pedal!

The sansamp bass driver with the presence and treble boosted + generous drive will get that sound, from my experience.

If not any tuner pedal (Polytune, Pitchblack, tu-3, etc etc), the Boss NS-2 also has a mute function.
