FDVs in my Combustion for a few years, I don’t always love the high midrange corner on them, but when its appropriate they sound great and slightly more raw than the FD3 and FD3n I had prior.

What was the pickup/pre combo?

Both pure nickel and strings that fit Dingwalls would be awesome!

Finally was able to custom order Pyramid Pure Nickels again for my Dingwall. They will do round core on request if you custom order from what I understand, so I went with that this time. Love the subtle thud and thumpiness, seems to counteract the immediacy of the multiscale in a pleasant way...

I’ve used both the NYXL and XS, both a tad too flexible for me at standard but I’m mostly a higher action/light touch player. I liked the NYXL a lot when playing rock with a pick and both sets have a growl, the XS being centered lower.

Moises also works for video game music, I like to try to get close to some older OSTs with great basslines

Thanks guys, seems like it would warm that position solo’d a bit which is cool and I’ve been favoring warmth over brightness these days. Still got a long wait ahead but locking in specs soon.

Got in the queue for my first custom. Leaning very heavily towards a Super PJ, sure both would sound great but anybody have an opinion on a Super Fatty vs FDV in the bridge? I have FDVs in my Combustion so I kind of get the just of its character minus the scale length.

Pretty much, it sounds great. Don’t intend on moving it much anyway so its not a huge deal. Gonna take an amp capture of it today on Quad Cortex to see if it can translate the wonderful natural sag

Anyone have a large case suggestion for the Tardis? Tried an Apache 5800 and it was barely too small :/

No help on the IR capture part but this is close to my headphone jamming setup now after years of using IRs. Noble + fairly aggresive LPF that also cuts some lower midrange, I find choosing my own EQ curve more fun at the moment than IRs
